Job description

HiFyve is hiring a Press Operator 2 in the Manufacturing industry!

Salary: $25-35/hr

Shift: 12 hour rotating Shift (2-2-3) 5:45PM-6:00AM nights or 5:45AM-6:00PM days

Week 1 = Mon, Tues, Fri, Sat

Week 2 = Sun, Wed, Thur


Location: Kansas City KS


Job Responsibilities

  • Operate and set up wide-web flexographic printing presses according to work instructions and start-up procedures to ensure quality and efficiency.
  • Inspect tools and equipment at the beginning and end of each shift, maintain housekeeping standards, and coordinate with Maintenance when issues arise.
  • Perform assigned preventative maintenance and assist with equipment repairs.
  • Accurately clock in/out of production orders and record activities in the system throughout the shift.
  • Review job specifications thoroughly to confirm materials, plates, and inks are available prior to setup; resolve discrepancies with leadership before proceeding.
  • Ensure strict compliance with quality control procedures, including approved setup samples and roll-to-roll checks throughout production runs.
  • Acquire ink and solvent materials following all safety procedures, including grounding containers.
  • Handle hazardous press waste properly by transporting materials to designated waste containers and ensuring correct labeling.
  • Monitor Press Operator 1 activities, including verifying ink viscosity checks every 15 minutes and maintaining color consistency.
  • Train, guide, and support Press Operator 1 team members while ensuring housekeeping procedures are completed.
  • Coordinate with team members to maximize machine uptime and proactively prepare for upcoming jobs to reduce downtime.
  • Label printed materials and accurately document material usage and scrap in the system.
  • Participate in hazardous waste training and ensure compliance with disposal procedures.
  • Follow all company safety, GMP, and quality standards outlined in company manuals and programs.
  • Support teamwork initiatives, continuous improvement projects, and cross-department assistance as needed.

Requirements

  • Adhere to safety culture standards with the objective of zero safety incidents.
  • Maintain compliance with GMP and food safety standards with no repeat violations.
  • Achieve required efficiency scores (90% during initial period; 100% or greater thereafter).
  • Follow attendance policies as outlined in the employee handbook.
  • Complete assigned housekeeping duties and preventative maintenance tasks with zero equipment damage.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous printing press experience and strong mechanical aptitude preferred.
  • Experience in an industrial production environment with safety training preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand work instructions and follow verbal directions.
  • Capable of performing basic mathematical calculations and using measuring tools such as tape measures and micrometers.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in team environments.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing production priorities.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and handle items up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods during shifts.
  • Willingness to work overtime as production demands require.
