The Big Picture
As part of Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) team, the VDC Lead Engineer is involved in a range of
activities throughout the construction of a project is essential for successful project delivery. Guide VDC
specialists and engineers through the VDC workflow and serve as a resource to project teams supporting
VDC services from design, preconstruction, and project completion while developing working relationships
with owners, project teams, and subcontractors.
Your Day to Day
  • Generate and maintain high-quality BIM content; review coordination models for accuracy, clash detection, and quality control.
  • Provide modeling support throughout design, preconstruction, and construction phases.
  • Identify and resolve design, coordination, and scheduling issues with project teams and stakeholders.
  • Lead coordination meetings and maintain accurate project documentation and records.
  • Provide technical BIM support to project teams on assigned projects.
  • Assist with developing and maintaining construction quality models; communicate model updates to stakeholders.
  • Research and evaluate new VDC tools and technologies.
  • Support the development of VDC workflows and implementation of company standards.
  • Develop project execution plans, cost estimates, and manage project budgets and job cost reporting.
  • Assist VDC Engineers with project planning, cost estimating, and execution strategies.
  • Stay current on VDC industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
  • Participate in industry events and professional development opportunities related to VDC.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

How You Contribute
  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Collaborate successfully with project field teams, subcontractors, and self-perform crews.
  • Mentor and support VDC Engineers, Specialists, and Interns in achieving project objectives.
  • Demonstrate strong planning, organization, and goal-achievement abilities.
  • Manage multiple projects while tracking requirements, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Leverage current and emerging VDC technologies (e.g., sUAS, 360ยฐ documentation, laser scanning, point layout, and lift drawing workflows) throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide user support and training on VDC software and systems to enhance collaboration and efficiency.
  • Conduct on-site training to ensure effective adoption of VDC tools, processes, and standards.

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of construction industry experience, preferably with MEP coordination.
  • 5+ years of VDC/BIM experience on large commercial construction projects in a lead role.
  • Experience working with subcontractors, subcontract management, and self-perform construction is preferred.
