Job Description Summary:
Educational Content Developers will leverage expertise in a variety of pedagogical approaches, such as project-based and inquiry-driven learning, to support the creation of Kindergarten through Grade 12 curriculum resources and teacher professional development materials for microlearning courses hosted on SCP's lilyPD online learning platform and/or other educator professional development materials and projects.
The relevance of specific experience and topical expertise will be determined by SCP project requirements and deliverables. Candidates will be selected from the pool as specific project needs arise, based on their unique topical expertise (e.g., specific subject knowledge or grade level). Educational Content Developers will be expected to meet content creation timelines and be able to devote approximately 10 hours per week to this work during the content development phases of projects.
Responsibilities will include:
- Developing K-12 teacher-focused professional development content.
- Developing museum educator focused professional development content.
- Writing, refining and offering feedback on a variety of instructional materials such as lesson plans, inquiry design materials, professional development materials, and/or microlearning courses.
- When appropriate, serving as the subject matter expert and host of microcourses for online publishing and national distribution.
- Providing peer review and feedback for other content developers' designs and packaging curriculum materials to prepare them for hosting online.
- Writing and editing educational video scripts.
- Creating and evaluating formative and summative assessment content.
- Developing student focused content and teaching strategies.
- Writing sample instructional activities.
- Bringing individual voice, interests, and expertise to content to make it engaging and appealing for learners.
Job Description:
Required Qualifications:
  • Experience (typically 3 years or more) delivering standards aligned content at kindergarten through grade 12 level in a classroom, a museum setting, or in another relevant context.
  • Experience creating professional development content for educator audiences.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Significant experience providing instruction in history, social studies, civics, English language arts, or a related discipline.
  • Some knowledge of online course development.
  • Deep knowledge of state standards in area of expertise.
  • Experience and/or topical expertise aligned with Strategic Cultural Partnerships project needs.

Conditions of Employment
  • This is a part-time, temporary position not to exceed 29 hours per week, on average, or 1,500 hours annually. Actual hours per week will vary depending on course development phases.
  • This is a remote position though some Educational Content Developers may be asked to travel to the William & Mary campus to record videos for microcourse content.
  • Individual positions within the job pool may be grant funded and contingent on the continuing availability of these funds.
