About the Role & Team

Do you love using data to answer complex questions? Then you may be interested in learning more about the Licensing Analytics team at Disney Consumer Products! Our mission is to put our data assets to work and apply quantitative techniques to discover previously unknown insights about our licensing partners, retailers and consumers. We work directly with the major decision-makers who shape the Disney Consumer Products experience. Through our insights, we help form and improve Disney offerings. This role sits in Glendale, CA and reports to the Sr Manager, Business Analytics and Insights.


What You Will Do

  • As part of the Americas Licensing Analytics team, we develop and facilitate analysis linked to owned retail and licensee data enhanced through industry insights. We also facilitate analyses and projects across cross-functional teams with collaboration across data partners. This includes support for financial forecast, evaluation of theatrical performance, sizing campaign ROI and ad-hoc analysis socialized with senior executives.

  • While every single day will be different, with rotating priorities, the main themes for this role include supporting a team of: Retail & Marketing Leaders: Support the Retail & Marketing organization develop the right strategies to drive demand and focus on discovering and translating insights to identify opportunities, pitch partners, forecast sales, plan activations, inform business decisions and measure the effectiveness of strategies.

  • Creative Problem Solvers: Our team navigates limited data availability and inconsistency. A key part of this role will involve identifying appropriate external data sources, reconciling data sets, identifying proxies, and clearly communicating the assumptions behind the analysis.

  • Retail & Marketing | Commercial Experts: The team leverages data to support retail & marketing | commercial decision-making. We convert freeform ideas into structured solutions. This includes closely partnering with data scientists & technology partners to link the right data assets to the proper analytical techniques to provide solutions.

  • Data Coders & Visualizers: Our team uses knowledge of visualization techniques to create compelling dashboards and intelligence tools to enable ease of interpretation of commercial performance metrics. This involves having the team code the backend processes to quickly access needed data and develop decks that synthesizes complex data into a compelling story.

  • Critical Thinkers & Storytellers: Our team acts as business impact multipliers – analyzing performance to determine actionable insights and transforming those insights into a story that helps our partners drive what happens next.

  • Collaborate across partner teams to consolidate a synthesized conclusion of findings and recommendations.

  • Benchmark industry to provide new perspectives and fresh options to consider and test.

  • Build compelling decks and presentations that can be used in senior executive forums.

  • Groom a backlog of ongoing requests for data discovery and insight. This can include researching new ways to solve commercial questions using data and analysis.

  • Be willing to be flexible with changing business needs and adaptable with work requests.


Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Must be a service-oriented, problem-solver, quick learner and great teammate/partner.

  • Experience in compiling, validating, and translating relevant data from multiple sources.

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to piece together different data points.

  • Proven competency in data collection, data mapping / attribution, design, data analysis and data quality control.

  • Time-management skills, with ability to prioritize multiple requests and communicate status to team leaders & partners.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas and develop concise recommendations.

  • Comfort in working in ambiguity to determine the questions that should be answered and the approach and partners needed to get there.

  • Technical proficiency in these data technology subject areas: Data pipeline technologies and ETL tools and languages such as SQL, SSIS, Knime, Alteryx, Tableau Prep Database technologies such as Snowflake, SQL Server Data Visualization and Consumption Tools such as Tableau, Microstrategy, Power BI, Business Objects Data warehouse and data lake architecture Scripting languages such as Snowscript, Javascript, VBA, Python.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with large scale retail systems data

  • Experience working with cloud platforms/technologies

  • Experience with machine learning


Preferred Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Math, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Business or related work experience

The hiring range for this position based in Glendale, CA is $79,400.00-$106,400.00. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, depending on the level and position offered.
