Job description

Are you an experienced forensic accounting professional looking to apply your expertise in a meaningful way? Guardian is seeking a Forensic Accountant to support the evaluation of complex disability claims through detailed financial and investigative analysis. In this role, you will leverage your accounting, tax, and analytical expertise to identify financial patterns, assess income credibility, and support accurate claim decisions. You are
An experienced forensic accounting professional with a strong investigative mindset and the ability to analyze complex financial information with precision and professional judgment. You are comfortable evaluating nuanced financial scenarios, identifying inconsistencies, and communicating findings clearly to both financial and non-financial partners. You thrive in an environment that requires critical thinking, accountability, and the ability to manage competing priorities while meeting established turn-around times.
You will
  • Work closely with Claims Examiners and Management to support the financial and forensic analysis of disability claims.
  • Conduct detailed forensic reviews of business and personal tax returns, financial statements, and supporting documentation to assess income, earnings capacity, and financial credibility.
  • Analyze complex and non-routine financial scenarios, including self-employment income, partnerships, pass-through entities, and cash-flow driven businesses.
  • Identify financial inconsistencies, anomalies, or potential misrepresentation and clearly document findings to support claim determinations.
  • Perform forensic analyses of financial data sets and communicate findings effectively to varied audiences.
  • Prepare clear, well-supported written summaries and reports that contribute directly to claim decision-making.
  • Collaborate with internal partners to ensure timely escalation of complex or high-risk financial issues for discussion and next steps.
  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of financial tools, analytical models, and reference resources.
  • Support training and knowledge-sharing initiatives for non-financial staff.

You have
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field.
  • Strong working knowledge of Federal tax laws and financial reporting concepts.
  • Demonstrated experience performing forensic accounting or investigative financial analysis.
  • Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail and documentation quality.
  • Ability to clearly articulate complex financial findings in written and verbal formats.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel and Word.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in forensic accounting, tax return analysis, financial investigations, or related work.
  • CPA and/or CFE certification, or eligible.
  • Experience supporting insurance, disability claims, litigation support, or regulatory-related financial reviews.

Location
  • 2 days in office and 3 work from home at a Guardian office location in Holmdel, NJ

Salary Range:
$82,770.00 - $135,975.00
The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary, this role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
