Job description

What We Need:

We are looking for two Cybersecurity Interns to join our HNI team in Muscatine, Iowa during Summer 2027.

We are seeking:

  • 1 Cybersecurity Intern to join our Security Operations team
  • 1 Cybersecurity Intern to join our Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) team
What You Will Do:HNI's summer internship program is a great opportunity for first-hand experience in cybersecurity. You'll work on projects that help protect HNI's systems, networks, applications, and data while gaining exposure to enterprise security practices and technologies.

HNI's large, paid internship program includes exposure to leadership, professional development opportunities (Lunch and Learns, training, skill-building workshops), support through a mentor relationship, volunteering, and social events. Company-paid apartment-style housing may also be available, based on a student's geographic need and current housing capacity.

Internship positions may be in disciplines such as:

Security Operations

  • Security monitoring and threat detection
  • Incident response support and investigations
  • Vulnerability management and remediation tracking
  • Endpoint security and protection technologies
  • Security metrics and reporting

Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC)

  • Security control reviews and documentation
  • Security awareness and training initiatives
  • Data protection and governance programs
  • Security process improvement and compliance activities
What You Have:
  • Candidates should be pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a related field 
  • Minimum 2.8 GPA
  • Coursework in cybersecurity, networking, cloud computing, information security, or related subjects is preferred
  • Preference will be given to applicants with relevant work experience, internships, cybersecurity projects, student organizations, or other related activities

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to develop alternative solutions and work effectively in both individual and team problem-solving situations.
