The In-N-Out Burger Laboratory team has an excellent opportunity for a Laboratory Technician, located in Lancaster, TX!
The Laboratory Technician reports to the Lab Supervisor. This position's primary focus is supporting beef, environmental, dairy, and pourable liquid testing. The Laboratory Technician is responsible for conducting sample analysis, interpreting results, verifying instrumentation calibration, and implementing good laboratory practices.
*This role is based full time in office*
General Responsibilities
  • Performing qualitative (PCR), quantitative (indicator organism), and basic food Chemistry testing, as well as assembling, analyzing, reviewing and reporting data utilizing a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
  • Preparing and maintaining stock media solutions
  • Creating reports using basic data table and graphing techniques
  • Ensuring that all laboratory tests are conducted, entered and reported according to laboratory protocols and performing all technician duties with pride and craftsmanship while fostering a culture of teamwork, cooperation, occupational safety and dedication to helping others succeed
  • Conducting routine food, environmental and/or process improvement sampling
  • Periodically reviewing and auditing laboratory results and reporting
  • Maintaining instrumentation in good working order through periodic inspections and calibrations
  • Participating in check sample and other internal verification programs
  • Contributing to special projects through root cause analysis and continuous improvement techniques
  • Continuing one's professional development in Microbiology, Food Chemistry, basic Statistics, ISO 17025 and other core technical competencies Continuing one's professional development in Microbiology, Food Chemistry, basic Statistics, ISO 17025 and other core technical competencies
  • Following laboratory quality assurance, occupational safety and sanitation programs
  • Assisting the Laboratory Supervisor when absent to fulfill departmental needs and Perform other work-related job duties as required

Work Schedule and Benefits
  • Full-time position, non-exempt
  • Schedule and office hours in Lancaster, TX: Thursday-Monday, 7:00am - 3:30pm, Days off are Tuesday and Wednesday
  • Candidate must be flexible to training schedule which may change
  • Occasional travel: 10-20% of the time

Qualifications for INO Associates
  • In-N-Out Burger Store or Support experience: Minimum 2 years tenure with In-N-Out Burger
  • Degree in Science, Microbiology or Food Science preferred
  • Some Laboratory experience or internship in similar preferred

Additional Qualifications
  • 1 year of microbiology laboratory experience required.
  • Associate's Degree in Microbiology, Food Science, Animal Science, Meat Science, or equivalent preferred
  • Bachelor's of Science in Microbiology, Food Science, Animal Science, Meat Science, or equivalent preferred
  • ISO/IEC 17025, ELAP, Food-based PCR and indicator organism analyses, along with basic Food Chemistry testing knowledge preferred
  • A working knowledge of GLP, GMP, FDA-BAM and USDA-MLG methodologies preferred
  • Familiarity of basic HACCP and Process Controls for Human Food principles preferred
  • Strong written, verbal, problem-solving solving and critical thinking skills required
  • Experience with PCR, Petrifilm, Petrifilm Readers, Electronic and Manual Pipettors, Autoclave, Incubators, Thermometers, Industrial Dishwasher, Centrifuges, Stomachers preferred
  • Experience with LIMS, Microsoft Suite (EXCEL, WORD, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook), Zoom preferred
