Job description


UPMC Corporate Legal is hiring an Intermediate Corporate Compliance Analyst- COI to join our team at the US Steel Tower. This role will work Monday through Friday during standard business hours and have the flexibility to work from home three days a week.

Under the direction of Office of Ethics, Compliance, and Audit Services leadership the analyst is responsible for providing operational support for UPMC's Compliance and Audit program. The analyst will assist in the overall compliance and auditing activities to ensure compliance with standard operating procedures, corporate policies, industry standards, and applicable federal and state laws for assigned UPMC locations or areas. The analyst will work with assigned teams to prevent and detect compliance risk by supporting various functions such as auditing and monitoring activities, performing regulator research, completing investigations, implementing work plans, and performing education. An analyst should have excellent attention to detail, analytical, and multitasking skills and be completely objective and possess a working knowledge of the operations and practices within our industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Conducts training on compliance topics, as assigned

  • Assist in establishing and maintaining policies, procedures, and tools to support compliance activities across the Department and the Organizatio

  • Complete or facilitate investigations and special projects, as assigned.

  • Create educational and training materials related to specific compliance topics.

  • Extract and compile data for analysis.

  • Facilitate issuance of guidance, recommendations, and best practices to assigned entity or organizational areas, as assigned by management.

  • Help to enhance and maintain internal and external websites.

  • Perform audits and monitor assigned topics and areas

  • Perform chart reviews to assess compliance with various regulations and best practices, as assigned

  • Prepare and/or presents reports on compliance topics

  • Research, compile and interpret state and federal regulatory and industry guidance, as well as internal data, for purposes of analysis.

  • Understanding of compliance and privacy program policies and handbooksSupport entity level compliance and privacy matters, as assigned

  • Support various teams across the department with work such as Compliance Helpline (hotline), Exit Interviews, Investigations, Auditing and

  • Monitoring, Conflict of Interest related matters, and other miscellaneous compliance and audit projects as assigned.

  • Support ongoing departmental goals

  • Assist leadership on special projects, as assigned.

  • Assist with investigations, as assigned

  • Possess basic understanding of healthcare or other complex or regulated environments

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

  • Effectively communicate and support the values of UPMC to employees at all levels of the organization.

  • Time management skills, and ability to manage competing timelines and projects

  • Communication, assessment, and problem-solving skills

  • Reports, audits, workpapers, and investigations are completed on time and accurate.

  • Travel to other UPMC work locations, as needed.

  • Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Graduate degree in a Compliance, Legal, Healthcare, Health Information, Finance, Audit, or other related Healthcare or Business degree
    • OR Graduate degree in an unrelated field and one year of compliance, legal, regulatory, financial, audit, or business experience, preferably in a health care setting.
    • OR bachelor's degree and three years of compliance, legal, regulatory, financial, audit, or business experience, preferably in a health care setting.
    • OR associate degree or comparable technical school diploma/degree and five years of compliance, legal, regulatory, financial, audit, or business experience, preferably in a health care setting.
  • Enrollment in or completion of Graduate level degree and completion of a UPMC Compliance or Audit Internship or Externship, Summer Associate or other applicable UPMC work experience rotation
  • Proficient with Microsoft products, such as Word, Excel, PowerBI, and PowerPoint.
  • Conflict of interest experience is a plus.
