Job description

Position Summary

The Middle School Ministry Intern/Coordinator exists to advance the mission of Central Ohio Youth for Christ by helping implement Youth For Christ’s holistic ministry model and the YFC 5 Essentials among middle school youth in the Franklinton community. This role partners with the City Life Center team to build Christ-centered relationships with students through outreach, mentoring, sports, educational programming, discipleship, and spiritual leadership.

Key Objectives
  • Help lead outreach efforts to local middle school students.
  • Assist in facilitating holistic programming at the City Life Center.
  • Support City Life Center staff, team, and internship responsibilities.
  • Fulfill the spiritual and ministry expectations of COYFC and Youth For Christ USA.
Essential ResponsibilitiesOutreach amp; Student Engagement
  • Help lead in-school mentoring groups at local middle schools.
  • Build relationships with Franklinton youth through neighborhood and school-based outreach.
  • Organize and lead sports, recreation, and educational activities at the City Life Center.
  • Connect students involved in outreach and sports activities to spiritual programming and discipleship opportunities.
  • Serve as a Christ-centered role model while engaging students relationally and spiritually.
Spiritual amp; Holistic Programming
  • Assist in implementing Youth For Christ’s Holistic Community Development Model.
  • Recruit students and support volunteers in ministry programming.
  • Help students grow spiritually, emotionally, socially, and academically through relational ministry.
  • Practice and promote the YFC 5 Essentials with excellence.
  • Encourage youth participation in Bible studies, mentoring groups, prayer, and discipleship activities.
City Life Center Team Responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively with staff to maintain a safe and welcoming environment.
  • Address student discipline issues promptly, respectfully, and appropriately.
  • Help maintain the cleanliness and daily operation of the City Life Center.
  • Participate in internship development and staff learning opportunities.
  • Attend regular City Life Center staff meetings.
Staff amp; Administrative Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate professionalism, punctuality, and a teachable attitude.
  • Regularly monitor and respond to work-related communication.
  • Complete weekly timesheets and assist with attendance tracking and data entry.
  • Support leadership development initiatives and ministry events.
  • Attend quarterly COYFC staff meetings and monthly Student Ministry Team meetings as available.
  • Support development and fundraising efforts by inviting guests to ministry tours and engagement events.
Middle School Ministry Responsibilities
  • Attend all middle school camps, retreats, and overnight events as scheduled.
  • Help facilitate middle school small groups and mentoring opportunities.
  • Encourage, coach, and support middle school ministry volunteers.
  • Assist in planning and implementing games, activities, and outreach events.
Spiritual Responsibilities

As a ministry representative of Central Ohio Youth for Christ, staff members are expected to:

  • Consistently uphold and model Christian beliefs, values, and conduct both inside and outside the workplace.
  • Participate in and help lead prayer, devotion, worship, and other Christian ministry activities.
  • Regularly seek God’s wisdom and guidance through prayer and spiritual disciplines.
  • Share the Gospel message and support students in their spiritual growth and discipleship journey.
  • Represent the mission and Statement of Faith of COYFC with integrity and professionalism.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Passion for youth ministry and relational outreach.
  • Ability to connect effectively with middle school students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Willingness to serve in an active, community-based ministry environment.

Work Environment

This position involves active engagement within schools, neighborhoods, ministry events, and the City Life Center environment. Evening and occasional weekend responsibilities, including camps and outreach events, may be required.
