Job description

INTERNSHIP - CHILDREN'S SERVICES
We are currently seeking interns for our Community School Program!
Your Role at SARRC
The Community School offered by Southwest Autism Research & Resource Center offers high-quality early childhood education for children with and without autism - all in a blended classroom environment. Interns assist with children ages 15 months to 5 years in a preschool setting where they will learn about Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA), specifically Pivotal Response Treatment!
This internship is ideal for current or recent college graduates.
Internship Requirements
  • Must have a high school diploma and be at least 18 years of age
  • Ability to work effectively with people from a variety of backgrounds
  • Strong verbal and written communication, time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills

Location
SARRC offers placement at any of our three (3) Community School Program locations - placement is dependent upon program need.
Community School Phoenix - 300 N 18th St, Phoenix, AZ 85006
Community School Scottsdale - 6535 E Osborn Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85251
Community School Tempe - 975 E Warner Rd, Tempe, AZ 85284

Hours
Minimum of 10 hours per week; participation in afternoon group supervision meetings every Friday.
Interns are required to commit for the academic semester and/or school year.
Work Environment
Candidates must possess the physical ability to perform the following tasks consistently throughout the workday:
  • Prolonged Standing & Movement: Ability to stand, walk, and move dynamically around the classroom and playground for extended periods.
  • Lifting & Transferring: Ability to safely lift, position, and transfer moderate amounts of weight as needed, and assist in crisis management or transition support.
  • Bending, Squatting, Kneeling: Frequent ability to bend, squat, kneel, or sit on the floor to interact with children at their level.
