Job Title: Funeral Director Intern

Hours: 9:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Mon - Friday, some weekends

Overview:
As a Funeral Director Intern, you will gain hands-on experience and valuable insight into the funeral services industry. This internship offers an opportunity to learn the intricacies of funeral directing, from assisting families in their time of need to managing various aspects of funeral arrangements and services. Under the guidance of experienced funeral directors, you will contribute to providing compassionate care and support to grieving families while developing essential skills for a career in funeral services.

Responsibilities:
1. Assist in meeting with bereaved families to discuss funeral arrangements, including burial or cremation options, casket selection, and service details.
2. Aid in coordinating logistics for funeral services, such as securing venues, arranging transportation for the deceased, and scheduling clergy or celebrants.
3. Support the preparation of the deceased for viewing, ensuring proper embalming, dressing, and cosmetic presentation.
4. Assist in directing funeral services, including coordinating processionals, overseeing floral arrangements, and managing audiovisual equipment.
5. Provide compassionate support and guidance to grieving family members and friends during visitations and services.
6. Assist with administrative tasks, such as answering phones, filing, completing necessary paperwork, obtaining permits, and managing records in compliance with legal requirements.
7. Help maintain the cleanliness and organization of funeral home facilities, including chapels, viewing rooms, and preparation areas.
8. Participate in ongoing training and educational opportunities to expand knowledge of funeral directing practices and industry regulations.
9. Collaborate with other funeral home staff, including embalmers, administrative personnel, and funeral assistants, to ensure seamless service delivery.
10. Uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and sensitivity in all interactions with clients and colleagues.

11. Additional Task as assigned

Qualifications:
1. Currently enrolled in or recent graduate of a mortuary science program or related field.
2. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate compassionately and effectively with individuals experiencing grief.
3. Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
4. Compassionate and empathetic demeanor, demonstrating sensitivity to the needs and emotions of grieving families.
5. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
6. Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
7. Basic computer proficiency, including familiarity with Microsoft Office applications and funeral service management software.
8. Physical ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds and perform tasks related to the care and preparation of the deceased.
9. Commitment to upholding ethical standards and following industry regulations and best practices.
10. Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
