Job Description

This part-time non-tenure-track position within the Agriculture, Nutrition and Human Ecology will teach up to two courses for the Fall 2026 academic year.
The salary is determined in accordance with the University's compensation structure and will be commensurate with the candidates' education and experience, within the assigned salary range for this position.
Responsibilities:
  • Teach undergraduate courses in Nutrition and Dietetics that support the Human Nutrition and Food Program. Courses may include Introduction to Nutrition, Intermediate Nutrition, Advanced Nutrition, Medical Nutrition Therapy, Food Systems Management, Community Nutrition, Wellness, Lifecycle Nutrition, and related areas based on departmental needs.
  • Foster an engaging learning environment that promotes student success and professional development.
  • Maintain course records, submit grades in a timely manner, and utilize the University's learning management system.
  • Participate in curriculum improvement and departmental meetings as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:
  • Master's degree in Dietetics, Public Health Nutrition, Food and Nutrition, Human Nutrition, or a closely related field.
  • Candidates with college-level teaching experience are preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching, mentoring, supervising, precepting, or evaluating students in academic, clinical, community, Extension, public health, or foodservice settings.
  • Experience delivering nutrition education to various audiences.
  • Experience supervising, mentoring, or precepting students during experiential learning, clinical practice, community nutrition programs, Extension programming, or supervised practice is highly desirable.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in written and oral communication skills for all audiences.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the ability for effective teaching and scholarship.
  • Demonstrate support of professional organizations in the discipline.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively teach and engage students from various backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based nutrition principles and current professional practice standards.
  • Ability to incorporate technology into teaching, including Learning Management Systems.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to provide timely feedback and assess student learning.
  • Commitment to academic integrity, professionalism, and student success.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and community partners.

Preferred Education:
  • Doctorate degree in Nutrition and credentialed as RD preferred.
  • Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential.
  • Previous college or university teaching experience.
  • Experience serving as a preceptor for dietetic interns or nutrition students.
  • Experience supervising clinical rotations, practicums, internships, or experiential learning.
  • Experience using Canvas or another Learning Management System.
  • Experience developing online or hybrid courses.
  • Experience in clinical nutrition, community nutrition, Extension, public health, foodservice management, or wellness programming.
  • Active participation in professional organizations such as the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics or affiliated practice groups.
