Description
Snow College is seeking an energetic, student-focused, and industry-driven Welding Technology Instructor to join the Richfield Campus team. This is an opportunity to help build the next generation of welders, fabricators, and skilled trades professionals through hands-on instruction, industry partnerships, and real-world learning experiences. The successful candidate will serve as an instructor, delivering high-quality classroom and laboratory instruction while building strong partnerships with industry, supporting student success, and strengthening workforce pathways throughout Central Utah.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Welding Technology or a related field.
  • Two or more years of occupational experience within the welding industry.
  • Teaching experience in secondary education, post-secondary education, or workforce training preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with students from diverse academic and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Commitment to workforce development and student success.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Four to six years of professional welding industry experience.
  • AWS CWI and/or CWE certifications.
  • Experience with Canvas or other Learning Management Systems.
  • Curriculum development experience.
  • Experience with multiple instructional delivery methods including face-to-face, hybrid, and online learning.
  • Demonstrated leadership within welding education or workforce development.

Physical Requirements
  • Work is performed in classroom and welding laboratory environments. Faculty may stand, walk, bend, push, pull, and supervise laboratory instruction for extended periods.
  • Exposure to welding equipment, machinery, dust, fumes, and shop environments is expected. Safe operation of welding equipment and enforcement of OSHA safety standards is required.

  • Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW/TIG)
  • Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW)
  • Welding Fabrication and Industry Practices
  • Shop Safety and OSHA Standards

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teaching and Student Success
  • Deliver engaging classroom instruction and hands-on welding laboratory experiences.
  • Create an effective learning environment that supports diverse student populations.
  • Develop curriculum and instructional materials aligned with industry standards.
  • Evaluate student performance through competency assessments, projects, and demonstrations.
  • Track attendance, progress, and completion to support student success.
  • Maintain current instructional methods and welding technologies.
  • Advise students regarding educational and career pathways.

Program Development and Growth
  • Support and strengthen the Welding Program through recruitment and retention efforts.
  • Develop partnerships with high schools, industry leaders, and workforce stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with faculty and administration to support program expansion.
  • Maintain equipment replacement schedules, inventory controls, and lab resources.

Industry Engagement
  • Build strong relationships with welding and manufacturing employers.
  • Create internship and employment opportunities for students.
  • Maintain advisory committee relationships to ensure curriculum remains aligned with workforce needs.
  • Stay current on emerging welding technologies and industry practices.

Department and College Service
  • Participate in college committees and institutional initiatives.
  • Support student activities and community engagement efforts.
  • Work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and administration. Work closely with the Program Lead to maintain a high-quality Welding Technology program that supports student success, industry standards, and continuous program improvement.
  • Promote Snow College and technical education opportunities throughout the region.
