R&D Principal Engineer


As an intern, you will have the opportunity to gain practical experience through various projects. Each day, you will acquire knowledge by performing tasks as directed. You will also showcase your skills by supporting ABB's operations and enhancing personal education/employment opportunities.

The work model for the role is onsite/hybrid in San Jose, CA.

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Develop responsive user interfaces using HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript
  • Build web applications with .NET technologies (ASP.NET Core, Blazor)
  • Implement modern frontend frameworks (React.js, or Angular)
  • Collaborate with UX/UI designers to translate mockups into functional, clean code
  • Write maintainable code following best practices and participate in code reviews
  • Debug and troubleshoot UI issues across different browsers and devices
  • Learn Agile/Scrum methodologies in a real-world environment

Technologies You'll Work With

Frontend Frameworks: - React.js / Angular - TypeScript

.NET Technologies: - Blazor (WebAssembly or Server) - ASP.NET Core MVC / Razor Pages - SignalR for real-time communication

Core Skills: - HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6+) - Responsive & mobile-first design - Git version control - Web accessibility (WCAG)

Qualifications for the role:

Education: - Currently enrolled in undergraduate degree (Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or related)

Must Have: - Solid understanding of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript - Basic knowledge of .NET Framework or ASP.NET Core - Familiarity with Git/GitHub - Strong problem-solving abilities - Eager to learn and work in a team
