Position Purpose
Under the general direction of the C4 Columbus Area Career Connection Director, to develop student's knowledge, understanding and skills of biomedical and science concepts, practices and programming as related through the health field.
To foster an understanding and appreciation for the scientific method, research and analysis of data to determine solutions to a problem.
Essential Functions
Develop and administer biomedical curriculum consistent with school district and C4 goals and objectives.
Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences to develop unit organization around biomedical sciences, challenge students, and best utilize the available time for instruction.
Teaches knowledge of medical sciences, professional life experiences and biomedical sciences
Develops student's understanding of various health related subjects including but not limited to careers, science relationships, post-secondary opportunities, and health relationships with other subjects.
Works closely with the other members of the biomedical and health science team to develop and provide a fluid and systematic curriculum for all students.
Develops student's research skills, interpersonal skills and ability to make critical value judgements and contribute to the thoughtful exchange of ideas and skills through a variety of class instruction and activities.
Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including students with special needs; conducts individual and small group instruction as needed.
Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops, or professional meetings.
Organizes and maintains a system of accurate and complete record keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by district or C4 procedures and applicable laws.
Encourages parental or guardian involvement student's education and ensures effective communication with students and adults.
Ensures that student conduct conforms to the schools standards and district polices, and establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
Coordinates with other professional staff members and participate in faculty and committee meetings.
Selects and requisitions appropriate books, instructional aids, and other supplies and equipment and maintains inventory records.
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Director or other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Equipment

Travel Requirements
Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
Qualifications Profile
Certification/License:
IN State Certification as a Biomedical Teacher or
Biomedical degree or RN preferred with strong science understanding and work experience to qualify for a workplace specialist-teaching license.
Additional training may be required to meet standards of BCSC and or PTLW.
Motor Vehicle Operator's license or ability and ability to provide own transportation
Experience
Successful teaching experience as a Biomedical teacher or appropriate and applicable work experience within the health or biomedical fields.
