The Role
General Motors is seeking a motivated individual to help drive the North America Finished Vehicle Logistics team on new projects and on-going support of our outbound finished vehicle network engineering. This position offers a great career opportunity with a team focused on innovation, network optimization, and project management for North America and strategy globally.
The Finished Vehicle Logistics team will focus on ensuring systems are accurate, tactical design changes, cost savings analysis/optimizations, creative solutions, and purchasing support. Opportunities can exist in changing the network, process, and technology.
What You'll Do
  • Finished vehicle routing and distribution experience in North America, Mexico and Canada.
  • Network performance validation Actual vs Forecast
  • Experienced defining transportation methods balancing cost, service, and quality
  • Ability to track impact files before and after network redesigns
  • Modeling using Supply chain optimization tools (i.e) Optilogic desired
  • Comfortable managing large sets of data to perform transportation studies
  • Desirable project management experience
  • Develop business case with projected cost savings/volume impact
  • Ensure project alignment and timing with other current and deployed initiatives across logistics
  • Ensure regional/global input is received for all major decisions as it relates to logistics processes and systems
  • Root cause issues to identify initiatives to improve process and cost competitiveness
  • Design and run network modeling tool
  • Develop long-term plans for inventory, pipeline, and capacity management

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
  • 2+ years relevant experience in purchasing, supply chain, program/product management, logistics or product development (any internship or co-op experience will not be considered)
  • Project management skills and proven experience leading projects
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work with other cross-functional areas such as purchasing, engineering, manufacturing & sales.
  • Expert in analytics tools with ability to learn new tools/systems quickly
  • Data analytics (e.g. SQL, R, Python)
  • Data visualization (e.g. Power BI, Tableau)
  • Ability to drive long-term projects through to completion

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Purchasing, Supply Chain Management, Finance, related field
  • Business Process Optimization Re-Engineering Experience.
  • Logistics software experience including utilizing or deploying IT solutions to meet business requirements.
  • Logistics Network modeling
