Job description

POSITION: Pathways Coordinator

DEPARTMENT: Youth Services

REPORTS TO: Education Director/Deputy Director of Manhattan Youth

SALARY: $62,000 - $65,000 annual salary

LOCATION: 168 Broome St New York NY 10002

SCHEDULE: Monday through Friday 10AM- 6PM/11am-7pm, some Saturday programming. Some regional travel required, possibly international. Flexibility to work occasional weekends and weeknights.

DATES: Starting June 2026

JOB SUMMARY: Grand St. Settlement operates the Best Buy Teen Tech Center (TTC), a state-of-the-art makerspace on the Lower East Side that provides New York City teens with access to innovative technology, hands-on learning, and supportive mentors through a partnership with the Best Buy Foundation and The Clubhouse Network. Guided by a project-based learning model, the TTC empowers young people to explore their interests, develop technical and leadership skills, and prepare for college, careers, and lifelong success. The Pathways Coordinator leads the Teen Tech Center's college, career, and workforce development initiatives by designing and implementing career exploration, internship, mentorship, and postsecondary readiness opportunities. This role builds strategic partnerships with employers, colleges, and community organizations, connects youth to meaningful career pathways, and supports members in developing the skills, experiences, and confidence needed to achieve their educational and professional goals.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • College Degree preferred.
  • Candidates are self-starters, innovative and excited by the opportunity to build a new program.
  • Candidates are proficient in many forms of technology; a true “tech learner” who has a burning desire to learn and teach new tools and software.
  • Candidates must have 3+ years of experience working with young people, particularly older youth and youth from vulnerable backgrounds.
  • Candidates must have 2+ years of experience designing and implementing new programs.
  • Candidates must have 2+ years of experience supervising staff.
  • Candidates must have 1+ year of experience providing family and community engagement events.
  • Candidates are responsible, organized, and demonstrate positive communication skills.
  • Candidates utilize an analytical approach to solve problems and to meet program benchmarks.
  • Candidates utilize a trauma-informed approach to youth development and are (multi)culturally competent.
  • Candidates must successfully complete the following: NYSDOH Fingerprinting Screening; New York State
  • Clearance Review Background Check; 3 Reference Check; Physical w/ updated TB Test (Fees may apply)
    • If offered the position, must submit a $25 fee for NY State Clearance Review.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Facilitate programming related to college-career readiness, accreditation, partnerships with companies, businesses, internship placement, and stipend/paid opportunities.
  • Lead workshops and info sessions on resume building, skill learning, college exploration, and career focused goal setting.
  • Provide daily enrichment and workshops happen on a consistence basis in collaboration with TTC Coordinator and Mentor Coordinator.
  • Participate as an active member of The Clubhouse Network’s community, including monthly TCN meetings as well Annual Conference at various cities across the country/world-wide.
  • Attend monthly check-ins with Best Buy’s Regional Liaison, join regional cluster calls, and attend Best Buy’s Annual Connection Summit in Minneapolis.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day execution of learning model for youth members and mentors
  • Bi-weekly Saturday enriching programming
  • Maintain supplies, equipment, and perform necessary evaluation of the needs of participants to inform yearly funding streams that go towards but are not limited to stipends for youth, events, and equipment purchases.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day supervision of youth members
  • Assist TTC Coordinator to perform outreach to schools, organizations, and partners to deepen TTC’s impact in the community.
  • Support youth in planning for their future, including pursuing academic and career opportunities that leverage their TTC experience and skills.
  • Assist TTC Coordinator in launching new initiatives, including youth digital portfolios, certification activities and initiatives announced by Best Buy and the Clubhouse Network.
  • Assist the Mentor Coordinator in the progress towards Project IMPACTS goals and outputs: enrollment and attendance goals that are in line with the project’s target population(s).
  • Assist the Mentor Coordinator with the implementation of IMPACTS related programing and opportunities for members and mentors
  • Assist the Mentor Coordinator in training, placement, and growth of recruited mentors.
  • Work with the Mentor Coordinator to offer activities for selected mentors: orientations, team meetings, workshops, technical assistance, and appreciation events.
  • Work with the Mentor Coordinator in matching mentors to specific creative projects, special topics and/or individual youth members.
  • Organize 3-5 college- and career-readiness events (mentor or volunteer-driven workshops, panels, etc.) for the TTC Calendar of Events.
  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships with corporations, nonprofit organizations, and community stakeholders to expand educational, career, and enrichment opportunities for GBTC members, while strengthening existing collaborations with partners such as PerScholas
  • Identify emerging workforce trends and community needs to develop responsive programming that expands opportunities for youth.
  • Assist department- and agency-wide volunteer recruitment efforts to direct potential volunteers to the TTC.
  • Assist Grand Street’s fundraising efforts to sustain the Teen Tech Center and to enhance its programming.
  • All other duties as assigned to support youth programs and other GSS departments, including but not limited to sharing your expertise with others and participating on committees and work groups.
  • Complete 15 hours of training as per school-age childcare requirements within the first three months of hire and attend two mandatory agency-wide Professional Development trainings.
