Description
Battery Management Systems (BMS) Intern
The Battery Management System (BMS) Engineer Intern - Functional Safety Support will support core BMS engineering activities and help accelerate Functional Safety (FuSa) software development and validation for the Eagle and Scarlet vehicle programs. This role contributes directly to meeting aggressive program timelines by expanding development and testing capacity during critical launch phases.
The internship provides hands-on exposure to BMS software, Functional Safety practices, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing, and real-world vehicle development in a fast-paced OEM environment.
Internship Details
  • Duration: 12 weeks
  • Timing: May/June start through August/September end
  • Schedule: Full-time (40 hours per week)

Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to):
  • SupportBMS Functional Safety software updates and validation activities.
  • Assist with HIL (Hardware-in-the-Loop) testing, including Eagle HIL system configuration and upgrade activities.
  • Contribute to daily engineering operations, including:
    • Data analysis and test result review
    • Software flashing and validation
    • Vehicle and HIL testing support
    • Engineering documentation
  • Collaborate with BMS, Systems, Software, and Functional Safety engineers to support program execution.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or in a related field.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Interest in electrified vehicle systems, controls, or safety-critical software.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-based engineering environment.

Preferred Qualification:
  • Coursework or project experience related to embedded systems, controls, software, or battery systems.
  • Exposure to Functional Safety concepts (ISO 26262), testing, or validation.
  • Familiarity with HIL systems, data analysis tools, or software debugging.
  • Interest in EV technologies and complex system integration.

Compensation:
$25.00/per hour - $35.00/per hour. Compensation will vary depending on the candidate's current level of education.
