Audio Project Manager Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Audio Project Manager to lead the planning, execution, and delivery of complex live event productions. This role is ideal for a seasoned live event audio professional with strong technical expertise, project management capabilities, leadership skills, and established industry relationships.

This is not a traditional sales role. Success in this position is driven by technical credibility, project execution excellence, client trust, and leadership within the professional audio industry. The selected candidate will play a critical role in managing audio projects from concept through execution while contributing to the long-term growth and leadership of the audio department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage professional audio projects from initial client inquiry through successful event execution.

  • Design and deploy large-format PA systems for live events.

  • Develop equipment lists, labor plans, truck packs, and production schedules.

  • Advance shows with clients, vendors, and production teams.

  • Coordinate and manage multiple concurrent projects while maintaining quality standards.

  • Lead and supervise audio crews, technicians, and freelance personnel.

  • Translate client objectives into effective technical production solutions.

  • Ensure seamless execution of live events with minimal oversight.

  • Maintain strong client relationships and serve as a trusted technical resource.

  • Support departmental growth through operational leadership and process improvement.

  • Contribute to staff development, mentoring, and training initiatives.

Required Qualifications
  • Significant experience in live event audio production.

  • Proven success managing complex live events in professional production environments.

  • Experience in one or more of the following roles:

    • Production Manager

    • Audio Project Manager

    • Systems Engineer

    • Lead FOH Engineer

    • Audio Department Manager

    • Touring Audio Professional

  • Strong understanding of audio system design, deployment, and event operations.

  • Experience leading production teams and managing project execution.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in fast-paced environments.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with d&b audiotechnik systems.

  • Experience with L-Acoustics systems.

  • Proficiency with ArrayCalc and/or Soundvision software.

  • System deployment, optimization, and tuning experience.

  • Manufacturer certifications related to professional audio systems.

  • Existing industry relationships within the live events and production community.

  • Production rental company experience.

Preferred Industry Background

Candidates with experience in the following environments are strongly preferred:

  • Touring Productions

  • Production Rental Companies

  • Festival Production

  • Large-Scale Corporate Event Production

Experience with major production organizations such as Clair Global, Solotech, PRG, Sound Image, Eighth Day Sound, Brown Note Productions, Rat Sound, Firehouse Productions, Upstaging, ATK, or similar companies is highly desirable.

Not a Fit For

Candidates whose experience is primarily limited to:

  • Studio Recording

  • Club Audio

  • Hotel AV

  • Traditional Sales Roles without significant live event production experience

may not be suitable for this position.
