MCC Audio Visual Rental Technician


Key Responsibilities: - AV Rental Technician:

Rental responsibility will be the success of each and every Rental project and implementation.

▪ This will be completed in the following steps

• Review sold rental with sales team

• Ensure Rental Ticket is created

• Properly Dispatch on Rental Service Call

• Pick up equipment, and install on site

• Thoroughly test and train client

• Provide onsite support as required.

• Pick up equipment at predetermined time, and return to warehouse.

▪ During this process you will be responsible for all client communications and updates from beginning of rental and implementation to successful completion.

▪ Maintains awareness of new and emerging technologies and their potential applications, to create greater value for clients and simplify installation

▪ Thinks creatively and out of the box providing solutions to client’s problems by leveraging technology.

▪ Identifies, troubleshoots and resolves hardware, software, and network related problems with the network. A solid understanding of IP networking protocols is required.

▪ Organize and maintain a clean rental warehouse, with full responsibility of Rental Inventory accuracy.

▪ This will include a large amount of weekend work, as well as evening work, and a decent amount of travel.


Installation responsibilities

▪ Assist with Audio Visual Installations and Service Calls.

• Including hardware installation, software configuration, and client education.

• Ensure all installations go according to SOW and SOF

• Assist in all aspects of Installation from start to finish

• Assist in any technical service needs for past installation

▪ Commission Audio Visual Systems.

• Tune Audio Systems

• Programing Lighting systems

• White Balance and calibrate cameras.

• This work will typically be on weekends, most commonly on Sunday morning.


Perpetual Responsibilities:

  • Pursue technical training prerequisites and corporate classes to ensure that you are properly trained and educated to support our customers
  • Displays proper dependability considering attendance and punctuality,
  • Consistently dresses per dress code.
  • Consistently achieves quotas set by management and effectively manages time as well as activity to maximize utilization.
  • Make complete service calls and Rentals on their own. Gives meticulous attention to detail on all service calls.
  • Trouble shoots using a logical step-by-step process of elimination to properly conclude and address the issue. Escalates issues in a timely manner to find a prompt solution for the customer.
  • Consistently performs the total call routine to maximize system uptime and or time between calls. Strives to properly address the system on the first call to avoid all callbacks.
  • Effectively works with dispatch to achieve a 4 hour Response Time goal.
  • Accurately and timely closes all calls with dispatch.
  • Accurately and timely submits all paperwork (i.e. Service Tickets, Monthly Expense Reports, etc.).
  • Keeps Supervisor, Management and Sales informed regarding all customer escalation issues.
  • Handles objections or difficult situations in a calm manner.
  • Works effectively with all co-workers to facilitate a solution for the customer.
  • Consistently displays a positive work ethic and attitude and offers ideas or solutions to successfully work through the situation.
  • Willing to modify schedule to achieve what is best for the customer and or the company.
  • Properly handles and takes ownership of company assets that are assigned to them (company van, cell phone, etc,). Must pass 3 of 4 or 4 of 5 weekly van inspections. The van inspection is rated on exterior and interior cleanliness as well as tire cleanliness and all are expected to clean their van weekly to pass this inspection. o Protects all assets from abuse and theft.
  • Seeks guidance on all of Customers equipment, maintenance or chargeable status and equipment capabilities.
  • Realizing that our Customers depend on Memphis Communications Corporation to meet their system needs, we must arrive not only on time to work but also well rested and energized to achieve our goals.
  • Must notify immediately if he/she will be tardy or ill in advance.
  • Attends and contributes to all service meetings. Is on time and prepared for all meetings. Below is a list of the regularly scheduled meetings that occur on a weekly basis that require your attendance.

• Monday Morning 7:30 AM – Weekly Planning & Review with the Tel, AV & Security Sales, Install, and Service Teams

• AV/Tel – Daily 15-minute huddle. Virtual

• Thursday Technical Meeting & Tel/Rental/AVSD Team Training – 7:15AM

• 15th of Every Month Celebration of Excellence 8AM – All offices

  • Research, update, understand and apply all technical bulletins.
  • Adheres to Company Policies and Procedures.
  • Is supportive of co-workers.
  • Pursues an understanding and vision of service goals and strategies. Willingly brings ideas and suggestions to Managements attention.
  • Provides Sales Leads for new customers to the Sales Manager.
  • Proactively and timely communicates any customer specific information or concerns to the specific Sales Representative. Follows up as needed with Sales and or the customer to ensure that issues have been fully addressed.
  • Is capable of lifting tool bag (approximately 30 lbs.) and related tools and or items as it relates to completing the service call. Is capable of transporting these items in and out of the company vehicle to the customer’s location on every service call. Is capable of climbing in and out of the company vehicle via the side and or back van doors.
  • Must be able to lift and transport entire inventory into the Parts Department and back to the vehicle once a quarter to have a quarterly parts inventory count conducted.
  • Since a large portion of our systems are built from the ground up, one must be physically able to bend, kneel, stoop, sit, stand and or lean for extended periods of time on every service call to properly view, repair, and address the systems that Memphis Communications Corporation sells and services.
  • Using proper safety measures, one must be able to lift up to 50 pounds (or 100 pounds with a co-worker) to load / unload a system into a company van.
  • Must be able to walk for a period of time and distance carrying a tool bag and or pulling an equipment cart to gain access to the customer’s site and equipment. In some situations, one may need to carry a tool bag and related items up a flight of stairs or more.
  • Must maintain a good driving record to qualify to drive the Company Van.
