Job Summary

Herschend is seeking an experienced Audio Visual Technician to support live performances and private events in our newest hospitality venture, Dolly Parton’s SongTeller Hotel, located in the heart of Downtown Nashville. Our Audio Visual Technicians will act as advocates for the property, assisting in ensuring world-class technical execution and the delivery of exceptional experiences for artists and guests.

Inspired by Dolly Parton's epic career and trailblazing spirit, SongTeller Hotel in Nashville is as unique as the global icon herself. Dolly welcomes guests to a place where they can Love Every Moment; it is a place to unplug, to connect with loved ones and to be entertained.

The AV Technician supports live and corporate events across multiple floors for Dolly Parton’s SongTeller Hotel featuring 245 rooms, two F&B Entertainment venues, a market, and Dolly Parton’s Museum. The role is responsible for setup, operation, and strike of audio, video and basic lighting systems for performances, rehearsals and special events. The ideal candidate is technically proficient, calm under pressure, collaborative, and comfortable working in a fast-paced live performance and event environment. This role will report to Production Manager. To achieve success in this role, one must drive results while adhering to our Heartspitality® culture.

Summary of Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary audio/visual equipment operator for live performances and events.
  • Provide day-to-day technical and operational needs for sound, lights, video and backline equipment required for live performances and events.
  • Work with venue leadership to coordinate onsite production during events, providing stage direction when needed.
  • Advance show and production needs with client or artist teams for public and private events.
  • Assist team and department lead in preventative maintenance and repair of all audio-visual and lighting equipment.
  • Report equipment technical issues to department lead or production manager.
  • Assist visiting artists with equipment load-in, set-up, tear-down, and load-out of event production equipment.
  • Interface with technical services and vendors, IT staff and other departments concerning technical systems.
  • Maintain operational understanding of current audio/visual/lighting/backline technologies and production vendors.
  • Ensure that all equipment is used and stored safely, in accordance with proper industry standards, from the load-in through the load-out.
  • Maintain a safe and secure environment for artists, clients, employees, etc., ensuring that all codes, laws, regulations, and emergency procedures are followed.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 2 + years of experience working with an audio/video team for performance venue, hotel or touring and/or recording industry.
  • Working knowledge of music, acoustics, stage lighting, and video engineering.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexible schedule, able to host site inspections, support events and concerts at any time during a seven day a week period
