Job description

The Material Analyst/ Buyer will have the overall responsibility for the planning and purchasing of finished goods, raw materials and services for assigned product categories from global as well as domestic suppliers. This responsibility includes the day-to-day inventory management based on past history, supplier production capacity, current demand and future forecast to maximize stock availability and minimize inventory investment.
This associate must effectively collect and communicate information and changes between Sales, Planning, Purchasing and Senior Management. This role also includes day-to-day communication with the suppliers on shipping schedules to ensure backorders and forecasts are satisfied as required by the end use customer.
Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Monitor, evaluate, plan and maintain stock levels. This includes working MRP and placement of purchase orders for product as well as services.
  • Monitor direct ship requests and place purchase orders.
  • Work with vendors to obtain order acknowledgements confirming lead time and cost of ordered product. Update IT system.
  • Negotiate volume discounts with vendors when applicable.
  • Review open order report regularly and manage daily communication with suppliers. Assure timely shipping, work with vendors on shipping delays, manufacturing capacity limitations and other related topics.
  • Proactively communicate timely and accurate information to all internal and external customers about inventory availability and other related details.
  • Must demonstrate good judgement to regularly review past usage, current demand and future forecast to determine proper stock levels for manufacturing and inventory planning.
  • Initiate inventory transfers from distribution centers or workrooms as needed.
  • Provide inventory reports as needed.
  • Initiate monthly forecasts to identify future demand to suppliers as needed.
  • Reconcile outside inventory monthly.
  • Work with suppliers to maximize manufacturing capacities assigned to Standard Textile without increasing U.S.A. inventory levels over required guidelines.
  • Quote customer delivery dates for new forecasted items.
  • Work with transportation department on freight quotes as needed.
  • Oversee and manage product returns to suppliers for quality issues as well as overstock situations.
  • Project participation and regular cross-functional collaboration with associates from any department or managing level, as well as distribution centers or workrooms.

Qualifications Include:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain, or Related Field or equivalent experience.
  • Prior knowledge of purchasing processes and procedures
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office, including advanced Excel and Outlook Skills
  • Experience with ERP systems such as JD Edwards (E1) or similar platforms preferred
  • Knowledge of textiles and international operations preferred

The hybrid schedule for this role includes in-office work on Tuesdays - Thursdays, and additional onsite days may be required during the training period. Associates are expected to be in the office during this time.
