The Utility Tow Motor Driver / General Labor employee plays a key role in supporting daily manufacturing operations by safely transporting materials, supplying workstations, and assisting with production needs across the facility. This position requires an experienced tow motor operator who can efficiently move heavy steel components, maintain workflow between departments, and provide backup support for multiple manufacturing processes.


This role is ideal for a dependable, safety-conscious individual with strong tow motor skills who enjoys supporting multiple aspects of plant operations and keeping production running efficiently.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Safely operate industrial tow motors to transport heavy steel materials, fabricated components, and finished products throughout the facility.
  • Supply production workstations with the materials and parts required to maintain continuous manufacturing operations.
  • Load and unload materials from designated storage areas and production cells.
  • Remove and dispose of trash, scrap, and other waste materials throughout the facility to maintain a clean and organized workplace.
  • Serve as a backup operator for the water-based paint line, following established quality and safety procedures.
  • Serve as a backup operator for large industrial press equipment after receiving appropriate training.
  • Read and interpret basic shop drawings and blueprints to identify parts and ensure materials are delivered to the correct locations.
  • Coordinate with supervisors and production personnel to prioritize material movement and workflow.
  • Perform routine equipment inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns promptly.
  • Follow all company safety policies, quality standards, and housekeeping requirements.
  • Assist with additional general labor duties as assigned to support plant operations.


Qualifications

  • Prior experience operating a tow motor/forklift in a manufacturing or steel processing environment.
  • Basic blueprint reading skills.
  • Understanding of shop math, including measurements and simple calculations.
  • Ability to work independently while supporting multiple departments.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
  • Willingness to cross-train and provide backup support for painting and press operations.


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to frequently stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift throughout the workday.
  • Ability to safely handle and transport heavy materials using powered industrial equipment.
  • Capable of working in an industrial manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, heat, and moving equipment.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a steel fabrication or heavy manufacturing environment.
  • Experience operating large press equipment or painting.
