Here's a summary of responsibilities:

Under the direction and supervision of the Senior Health Care Services Provider – Clinic Lead, provide for injury and illness examination, evaluation, diagnosis, rehabilitation, and case management to include appropriate internal referrals of diagnostic studies and providing care in support of sustained excellence in athletic high performance.  Upon assignment, serve in the capacity of Sports Medicine staff at USOPC- and/or NGB-sponsored events and demonstrate principal leadership in service provisions.

The HCSP is clinically competent, maintains state licensure in Physical Therapy, and has a certificate of additional qualification as a Sport Certified Specialist from the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS). The HCSP has substantial experience and clinical acumen in musculoskeletal diagnostics and management strategies for elite athlete populations, provision of emergency medical care for high acuity injuries, superior oral and written communication skills, high competency in creating and completing medical documentation, and experience in clinical research. Communication amongst the Sports Medicine team, with NGBs, and across USOPC departments is important. 

Here’s how you’ll have an impact:

• Deliver high-performance medical care as a member of a multidisciplinary team in accordance with the licensure, scope of practice, standards, and functions of his/her individual professional licensure, job description, and standards for appropriate practice, including clinical competency and documentation.  Health care includes emergency care, interpretation of health histories, examination and evaluation of injuries and illnesses, ordering of clinical studies, developing and applying of care plans, to include rehabilitation and return-to-play programs through the use of active care, therapeutic modalities, manual treatments, soft tissue care, and Athlete 360. 
• Provide on-site medical coverage for athletes during training and competition, including taping, assistance with warm-ups, assessment of environmental conditions, and evaluation and management of injuries and medical or traumatic emergencies.
• Refer to, accept referrals from, and collaborate with medical team members including physicians, chiropractors, physical therapists, certified athletic trainers, USOPC Sports Performance staff, external stakeholders, and others as appropriate.  Participate in the daily care of athletes, including performance-enhancing, preventative, routine, and rehabilitative cares.
• Work collaboratively and communicate with USOPC Sport Performance teams, NGB staff, and coaches regarding the status of injured athletes, while maintaining appropriate compliance with confidentiality and privacy laws.
• Participate in the Return to Performance program, including developing rehabilitation and return-to-play plans for patients sustaining injuries requiring surgery or extensive rehabilitation.  Communicate with key stakeholders regarding Return to Performance developments as appropriate.
• Participate in data entry, interpretation, and communication of the Athlete 360 Program.  Collaborate with USOPC and NGB stakeholders for integrated action plans.
• Maintain compliance with IOC/IPC, WADA, USADA, and the Olympic & Paralympic Code in order to provide for maximum sports performance from each athlete, while maintaining knowledge of up-to-date techniques in the enhancement, prevention, and care of athletic injuries.
• Record and enter athlete medical data into electronic medical record system in a timely manner for maintenance of athlete medical records.  Design and implement management plans through the use of USOPC technology and innovation projects.
• Provide clinical oversight of daily treatments performed by volunteer medical staff in Colorado Springs OPTC clinic.  Mentor entry-level contract or volunteer medical staff.
• Initiate insurance claims for athletes and collaborate with the National Medical Network (NMN) liaisons to coordinate medical care in Colorado Springs. 
• Assist sports medicine leadership in planning and executing the delivery of medical services at Games and/or international competitions.
• Work inclusively and collaboratively with sports medicine leadership, fellow clinicians, high performance staff, NGB staff, coaches, athletes, and other staff members in regard to operational and clinical issues/strategies and facilitate implementation of relevant case management strategies.
• Coordinate and execute special projects related to clinic operations, and lead or participate in working groups as assigned. Perform other duties as assigned.

Here are the skills and experience you'll need to be effective:

• When applicable, state licensure in the field of expertise must be obtained and continuously maintained throughout the course of employment. Forward proof to Vice President, Sports Medicine within 3 months of employment start date. No infractions or any form of disciplinary sanctions is acceptable prior to or during the course of employment.
• Master’s degree in Physical Therapy
• Doctorate in Physical Therapy preferred
• Board Certification in field of expertise
• State Licensure for the state of employment
• Certificate of Additional Qualification (CAQ) in sports medicine preferred
• Current Health Care Provider CPR certification
• Dual licensure in Athletic Training or Chiropractic preferred
• Emergency medical training preferred
• Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist preferred
• Certification in Anti-Doping Training completed within 30 days of start date
• Certification in SafeSport Training completed within 30 days of start date
• Documented significant experience working with elite, high performance athletes
• 5 years of clinical experience
• 3 years of sports medicine experience after licensure
• Documented significant manual therapy experience
• Electronic Medical Record experience preferred
• On-field sports medicine experience required
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, including medical documentation
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office computer programs and technologies
• Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with a diverse population including, but not limited to, athletes, coaches, administrative staff, physicians, volunteers, and other medical personnel
• Continuously comply with standards of care, including local, state, and federal health and safety standards, rules, and regulations
• Maintain skill sets to include Blood Borne Pathogen, emergency procedures, and sports-related concussion training
• Maintain knowledge of standards of care to include current techniques in the enhancement, prevention, care, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries
• Knowledge in the areas of:
  1. Injury/illness prevention and treatment
  2. Rehabilitation of athletic injuries and post-surgical care
  3. Return-to-play decision making
  4. Standards of care
  5. Sport Performance enhancement
  6. Emergency medicine skills
  7. Annual Blood Borne Pathogen training

  9. Concussion management

• Hiring pay range $100,000 - $115,000 per year.
• This Full-Time, 2-year Temporary Exempt position is intended to work 40 hours per week.
