Job Summary

The Entry Level Mechanical Engineer will support projects that improve plant safety, capacity, efficiency, reliability, and the work environment for operational employees. This role will assist with mechanical design, project implementation, capital projects, and integration of equipment into manufacturing facilities. This role will work closely with operations, maintenance, controls, automation, and other engineering disciplines at the Brooksville, FL manufacturing facility, as well as corporate engineering and management. This role will provide mechanical engineering support for manufacturing operations and capital project work as assigned.

Job Location

This is an onsite role based in Brooksville, FL. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist with capital projects from concept development through installation, start-up, and turnover to operations.
  • Support mechanical design for manufacturing equipment, conveyors, tooling, fixtures, guarding, platforms, and plant layouts.
  • Participate in gathering and documenting plant requirements through interviews, field measurements, documentation reviews, and workflow process mapping.
  • Create and revise mechanical drawings, equipment layouts, fabrication details, and bills of material using CAD software.
  • Assist with equipment specification, vendor coordination, RFQ development, and technical review of proposals.
  • Support integration of new equipment and mechanical systems into existing manufacturing facilities while coordinating with operations, maintenance, controls, and safety teams.
  • Assist with oversight of equipment installation, commissioning, punch-list completion, and project closeout activities.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues with equipment, processes, and hardware in partnership with maintenance and operations.
  • Provide technical assistance for testing, maintaining, modifying, and improving existing mechanical systems as needed by the plant.
  • Analyze equipment and project data and present findings, recommendations, and status updates to stakeholders.
  • Support compliance with relevant codes, regulations, company standards, quality requirements, and safety expectations.
  • Assist Manufacturing and Maintenance in the use, support, and improvement of mechanical equipment and plant systems.
  • Support on-time and within-budget project completion by tracking assigned tasks, documenting progress, and providing status updates.
  • Collaborate with operations, maintenance, engineering, vendors, and contractors to complete project work effectively.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related technical field.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical design principles, machine components, fabrication methods, and manufacturing equipment.
  • CAD experience such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor, or similar design software.
  • Ability to create, read, and interpret mechanical drawings, layouts, bills of material, and equipment documentation.
  • General knowledge of conveyors, material handling, pneumatics, hydraulics, bearings, drives, guarding, and machine safety preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to spend time on the shop floor learning equipment and processes.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify root causes and develop practical corrective actions.
  • Good computer skills, including Microsoft Office; ability to maintain organized project files and documentation.
  • Excellent communication written and verbal skills with strong task prioritization and time management. Ability to multi-task. Team Player.
  • Good reasoning, problem solving, and project management capability with excellent attention to detail.
  • Willingness to develop project management and planning skills through hands-on capital project support.
  • Occasional after hours call answering and holiday coverage may be required based on project or plant needs.
  • Travel approximately up to 25% of the time, depending on requirements.
  • Experience with manufacturing equipment design, fabrication, or installation is a bonus.
  • Experience with automation, robotics, or controls integration is a bonus.
