The client is seeking a detail oriented Web Content Accessibility Specialist to support a focused, six month accessibility initiative. This role will coordinate efforts to bring state health forms, digital content, and web pages into compliance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1.ย 
ย 
Key Responsibilities
โ€ข Review existing state health forms, documents, and web content to assess compliance with WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards.
โ€ข Work collaboratively with program areas to revise, rewrite, or redesign materials to meet accessibility requirements, including plain language, document structure, color contrast, and alternative text.
โ€ข Partner with web teams and agency program areas to ensure HTML content, PDFs, and interactive elements are accessible and properly remediated.
โ€ข Utilize project tracking and accessibility checker tools to monitor progress, identify risks, and ensure timely completion of deliverables.
โ€ข Provide guidance, training, and best practice recommendations to staff involved in content creation and publishing.
โ€ข Conduct quality assurance reviews to confirm accessibility corrections have been implemented accurately.
โ€ข Prepare documentation and reports summarizing compliance improvements, outstanding issues, and recommendations for long term accessibility practices.
โ€ข Stay current with accessibility standards, state requirements, and industry best practices.

Required Qualifications
โ€ข 2 years of experience in technical writing, digital communications or web content.
โ€ข WCAG 2.1 Level AA compliance knowledge experience
โ€ข 2 years of experience with common accessibility tools (for example, Adobe Acrobat accessibility features, WAVE, Axe, or similar).
โ€ข 2 years of prior experience with plain language content creation
โ€ข Strong understanding of accessible digital communication principles, including document tagging, semantic structure, and screen reader compatibility.
โ€ข Strong computer and skills, including Word, Adobe Acrobat and other platforms, as well as the ability to problem solve.ย 
โ€ข Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to create clear and plain language content.
โ€ข Demonstrated ability to coordinate projects, manage multiple deadlines, and collaborate across teams.
โ€ข Strong attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications
โ€ข Experience working in government, public health, or regulated environments.
โ€ข Familiarity with content management systems and web publishing workflows.
