Job description

Position Summary:
The Pharmacy Intern supports the pharmacy team in providing high-quality pharmaceutical care to residents in long-term care facilities. Under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, the intern assists with medication preparation, order processing, and regulatory compliance while gaining practical experience in a long-term care pharmacy setting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist pharmacists with medication dispensing, packaging, and labeling in accordance with state and federal regulations
  • Support order entry and medication profile maintenance for long-term care residents
  • Assist with medication delivery preparation and coordination
  • Perform medication reconciliation and support transitions of care
  • Communicate with pharmacy staff, nurses, and facility personnel regarding medication orders and clarifications
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with HIPAA and all regulatory requirements
  • Help manage inventory, including stocking, expiration date monitoring, and medication returns
  • Participate in quality assurance and safety initiatives
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervising pharmacists
Qualifications:
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited College of Pharmacy (PharmD program preferred)
  • Active Pharmacy Intern license in the state of employment (or eligibility to obtain)
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with pharmacy systems preferred
Work Environment:
  • Fast-paced long-term care pharmacy setting
  • May require standing for extended periods and lifting medication totes or supplies
  • Flexible scheduling, including evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed
Learning Opportunities:
