DESCRIPTION

Under the direction of the Coordinator,Student Information System (SIS), theStudent Information System Administratoris responsible forsupporting the activities associated with the Howard County Public School Systems SIS.The SIS Administrator willsupport current and future learning tools, technologies, and related processes and activities.The SIS Administrator will also meet withstakeholders fromdifferent partsof the school system toresearch andhelp implementrequiredupdates as directed.Thisrolewill work withtheStudent Information System team to helpdocument and implement changes to the system.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A combination of education and experience may be considered.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accreditedcollege oruniversity.

Experience:

  • At least three (3) years of experiencein atechnicalroleworking withanEnterpriseApplications,such as Student Information System (SIS), LearningManagement System (LMS)or Data Warehouse (DW) platforms.

  • Bachelor's degree from an accreditedcollege oruniversityin Information Technology, Educational Technology, or a related field.

  • At least three (3) years of experienceas a system administrator ofStudent Information System (SIS), LearningManagement System (LMS)or Data Warehouse (DW) platforms.

  • Experience working within a preK-12 or college/university setting.

  • Experiencesupportingand troubleshootingenterprise systems.

  • Experience indata extraction and analysis, usingqueries,spreadsheets,andother toolstomanipulatedata.

  • Experience documenting system changes and functionality.

ESSENTIAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Configuring theSIS.

  • Performing administrative tasks in the SIS as needed, including running and preparing reports; completing enrollments and data entry; system management; system monitoring; functionality validation; and completing statistical analysis.

  • Create or improve process workflows for both internal administration of the SIS and for end users.

  • Researching, testing, and validating updates

  • Providing routine and non-routine technical support andassistanceto end users by troubleshooting and resolving SIS functionality issues and communicating resolutionsin a timely manner.

  • Maintaining expert knowledge and skills on all evolving SIS features and procedures;

  • Working with vendors to evaluate, integrate, and troubleshoot integrations.

  • Prepare and work with confidential and sensitive data and documents while adhering to CIPA,FERPAand HIPAA regulations.

  • Supporting and providing recommendations to business owners and DepartmentofInformationTechnologystaff.

Working Hours

  • The duty day for this position is8hours including aone-hourduty-free lunch.

EMPLOYMENT INFORMATION

Compensation

This is a12-month per year position in the Howard County Education Association, Educational Support Professionals (HCEA-ESP) employee unit. Thecurrent salary rangefor this position is Grade 26on the Technical Central Office and School Based salary scale, $102,370- $154,260. Step placement will bein accordance withthe salary procedures of the Howard County Public School System and the HCEA-ESP Master Agreement which considers relevant prior experience. Under the Fair Labor Standards Act, this position is exempt from overtime.

Telework Program

This position requires work onsite and is also eligible for ahybridtelework schedule after the first 60 duty days. Telework schedules will bedeterminedby the department and/or supervisor.Telework during the probationary period will be subject to approval and based on the needs of the department and the school system.

Retirement

Membership in the Maryland State Retirement Agency (MSRA) pension plan is a mandatory condition of employment for all employees who meet the eligibility and membership criteria defined in the State Personnel and Pensions Article and the Code of Maryland Regulations (COMAR). A qualifying employee cannot reject membership, nor can an ineligible employeeelectmembership.The annualcontribution to the pension plan will be 7% of an employee's annual salary.
