POSITION TITLE: Clinician II/III
GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES: 30 This is a FLSA non-exempt position. The incumbent is responsible for screening, assessment, treatment planning and authorization for services for those referred to the program. The incumbent is responsible for providing counseling, education and rehabilitative services to adult consumers of Region Ten. The incumbent reports to the Director at Blue Ridge House and position duties require proceeding independently under standard practices and collaborating with supervisor for any exceptionally challenging situations. He/she is expected to perform in accordance with applicable professional ethics as well as established Region Ten policies.
QUALIFICATIONS: All candidates must meet the minimum requirements as listed below.
CLINCIAN II
• MASTER'S DEGREE AND LICENSE ELIGIBLE ACCORDING THE DHP DEFINITION:
• MASTER'S DEGREE IN PSYCHOLOGY, SOCIAL WORK, COUNSELING, SUBSTANCE ABUSE, OR MARRIAGE AND FAMILY THERAPY FROM AN ACCREDITED COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY. EDUCATION VERIFIED BY AN OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT WITH CONFERRAL DATE
• EVIDENCE YOU HAVE HAD AN INTERN OR PRACTICUM OF AT LEAST 500 HOURS OF EXPERIENCE WITH PERSONS WHO HAVE A MENTAL ILLNESS. (VERIFICATION OF INTERNSHIP/PRACTICUM FOR QMHP FORM)
• IS UNDER THE DIRECT PERSONAL SUPERVISION OF A PERSON LICENSED UNDER VIRGINIA LAW, WHO IS WORKING TOWARDS LICENSURE, AND WHO IS IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE APPROPRIATE VIRGINIA LICENSING BOARD MAY PERFORM THE FUNCTIONS OF THE LMHP FOR PURPOSES OF MEDICAID REIMBURSEMENT. THE BOARD OF HEALTH PROFESSIONS REFERS TO MASTERS PREPARED INDIVIDUALS IN COUNSELING AND PSYCHOLOGY AS "RESIDENT". THE BOARD OF HEALTH PROFESSIONS REFERS TO MASTERS PREPARED INDIVIDUALS IN SOCIAL WORK AS "SUPERVISEE". FOR PURPOSES OF MEDICAID REIMBURSEMENT, THESE PERSONS SHALL USE LMHP-E AFTER THEIR SIGNATURES TO INDICATE THIS STATUS. ADDITIONALLY, A PERSON WHO CAN REGISTER WITHIN SIX MONTHS OF HIRE. IN THIS CASE, A NEWLY HIRED CLINICIAN'S CONTINUED EMPLOYMENT IS CONTINGENT ON MEETING THE DEFINITION ABOVE WITHIN 6 MONTHS OF HIRE.
CLINICIAN III
• LICENSED CLINICIANS AS ONE OF THE FOLLOWING:
• LICENSED PROFESSIONAL COUNSELOR (LPC)
• LICENSED CLINICAL SOCIAL WORKER (LCSW)
• LICENSED MARRIAGE AND FAMILY THERAPIST (LMFT)
• CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGISTS
EDUCATION • Master's degree is required
EXPERIENCE • 1-3 year of experience is preferred.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:
• All candidates must hold a LPC or LCSW and be registered with the Department of Health Professionals OR Actively seeking licensure or certification (candidate must be registered with the Department of Health Professionals as a Resident in Counseling or Supervisee in Social Work)
• To ensure the safe and efficient operation of the program, a valid Virginia Driver's License plus an acceptable driving record as issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles are required.
• For business use of a personal car, a certificate of valid personal automobile insurance must be provided.
In addition, the incumbent must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities.
KSAS
Knowledge of impairments associated with major mental illness; psychosocial rehabilitation principles and implementation techniques; counseling principles; effects of psychotropic medications on functioning; psychosocial program principles; community living options; employment resources; supported work issues; crisis intervention; First aid and CPR; universal precautions; standards for psychosocial and intensive mental health programs.
Skills in: assessing; interviewing; observing, recording and reporting on an individual's functioning; identifying and documenting a consumer's needs for resources, services and other support; using information from assessments, evaluations, observations and interview to develop service plans; maintaining supportive and rehabilitative relationship with members, generating member motivation and commitment to self-improvement and peer supports; maintaining a clean, safe and supportive environment for members, facilitating member groups (job clubs, social clubs, etc.); coordinating service providers; driving 15-passenger van; listening, computer usage.
Abilities to: participate as a member of a rehabilitation team with a psychosocial model; work alongside psychiatrically disabled individuals in a mutual work effort; motivate members toward growth; counsel and problem-solve; assess member strengths and weaknesses and develop rehabilitation plans with members; write; document; maintain member records.
HOURLY SALARY RANGE:
GRADE 10- CLINICIAN II: $25.00 - $34.68 per hour
GRADE 11- CLINICIAN III: $27.40 - 38.15 per hour
POSITION LOCATION: 100 Burnett St. Charlottesville, VA 22902
SCHEDULE: 40 hours weekly; generally 9am-4pm Monday through Friday.
