The People Operations Manager is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with management. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: benefits administration, payroll administration, performance management, employee relations, training, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, affirmative action and employment law compliance.

Job Description

Key Accountabilities:

  1. Implements human resources programs by providing human resources services, including talent acquisition, staffing, employment processing, compensation, health and welfare benefits, training and development, records management, safety and health, succession planning, employee relations and retention, AA/EEO compliance, and labor relations; completing personnel transactions.
  2. Responsible for payroll processing and providing functional support for incentive programs
  3. Develops human resources solutions by collecting and analyzing information; recommending courses of action.
  4. Prepares executive and management reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
  5. Improves manager and employee performance by identifying and clarifying problems; evaluating potential solutions; implementing selected solution; coaching and counseling managers and employees.
  6. Completes special projects by clarifying project objective; setting timetables and schedules; conducting research; developing and organizing information; fulfilling transactions.
  7. Manages client expectations by communicating project status and issues; resolving concerns; analyzing time and cost issues; preparing reports.
  8. Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
  9. Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
  10. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  11. Enhances department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skill and Experience Requirements

  1. Seeking someone with 4-8 years of experience in HR roles
  2. Strong values with a clear inner core of purpose-driven leadership.
  3. Strong problem solving, reporting and analytical skills. Skilled in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  4. Knowledge of HRIS and payroll systems
  5. Demonstrated ability to research and analyze problems at a senior level, providing feedback, guidance, and direction.
  6. Clear understanding of Human Resources practices and legal requirements.
  7. Working knowledge of the critical components of a successful HR department including employment law, performance management, resolving conflict, having difficult conversations, employee engagement, training, maintaining employee files, and managing operational budgets.
  8. Clear, strong verbal communication and consulting skills. Demonstrated ability to work at the senior leadership level. 
  9. Well-developed writing and presentation skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly across all levels of an organization.
  10. Discretion, sensitivity, and confidentiality. Demonstrated ability to listen, analyze and inform appropriately while maintaining the required sensibilities in handling confidential information.
  11. Professional service firm experience is strongly preferred.
  12. B.S. in Business or the Social Sciences with demonstrated ability to understand the language of business. SPHR or other HR certification preferred.
