Position(s) Overview
Location: Colorado - positions will be based throughout our many Southeastern Colorado locations.
This is an entry level internships/trainee positions working to gain further experience in the construction field. Regular visits to the field may be required to examine projects and/or test materials.The positions involve supporting and working under a manager to prepare for a career in the industry. Types of internships may include, but are not limited to:

Wage Ranges: $18 to $20 per hour
Key Responsibilities (Essential duties and functions will vary depending on internship type)
  • Learn how to find, bid and build heavy construction projects
  • Set up contracts and sub contracts
  • Work with and assist estimators, project managers and construction crew foremen
  • Spend time with foreman learning how to prepare and set up job
  • Learn about construction equipment - various uses and skills required
  • Work with Operations Manager/accounting on monthly projections
  • Understand job cost
  • Review financial statements
  • Assist with project take offs and tracking
  • Project scheduling
  • Estimating training through Bid2Win
  • Set up users in Infield including assigning of departmental access.
  • Other duties as assigned per supervisor.
  • Train other users of infield including managers and approvers how they can utilize the program for job management
  • Support employees in safely providing the preferred source to customers
  • Knowledge of MSHA/OSHA standards
  • Conduct on site safety inspections

Education/Experience
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one on one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiple and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute, rate, ration, percent, land to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should be able to type and use keyboards accurately and have knowledge of Database software.
