About the Role:
IMAX is looking for a Design Intern who believes in the power of design and is a strong visual communicator with a passion for fandom, culture, movies, music, and IMAX. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment and is willing to contribute across projects of all sizes.
The intern will have a strong interest in identity and digital design, balancing creative thinking with hands-on execution. This role offers the opportunity to help shape IMAX's brand identity and ensure consistency across products and platforms. The ideal candidate brings a deep understanding of cultural trends and a passion for design-driven storytelling.
Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Design Director and Art Directors to develop and evolve IMAX's brand identity

  • Work within existing brand guidelines and contribute to building new design systems and guides

  • Create high-quality visual assets including logos, graphics, illustrations, and other brand materials

  • Participate in brainstorming sessions, develop mood boards, and contribute creative ideas

  • Build templates and design elements for use by designers and cross-functional teams

  • Support projects assigned by Design Director, Art Directors, and Production Managers

  • Balance executional work with higher-level conceptual and strategic design thinking

Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Graphic Design, Communication Design, Advertising/Marketing, or equivalent

  • Strong portfolio demonstrating brand design, strategic thinking, and visual communication

  • Advanced knowledge of design theory, including typography, layout, and color

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)

  • Ability to conceptualize designs based on research and creative briefs

  • Ability to interpret briefs, ask relevant questions, and deliver strategic design solutions

  • Strong technical understanding of file preparation and delivery

  • Highly organized, self-starter with strong attention to detail

Hiring Range :
$21.00 (per hour) Placement within this range depends on a candidate's experience, skills, internal equity, and regional market factors. Eligible roles may also receive additional non-discretionary compensation such as shift premiums or overtime pay.
