What does an Intern Movie Poster Designer do?

An Intern Movie Poster Designer assists in creating visual concepts and designs for movie posters under the guidance of senior designers or art directors. They may be involved in brainstorming ideas, editing images, arranging layouts, and selecting typography to best represent the film’s theme and attract audiences. Interns often use design software like Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator and may also help with research and administrative tasks. This role provides hands-on experience in the entertainment and graphic design industries, helping interns build their portfolios and develop practical skills.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Intern Movie Poster Designer, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Intern Movie Poster Designer, you need a strong foundation in graphic design principles, creativity, and proficiency in visual storytelling, typically supported by coursework or a portfolio in design. Familiarity with design software such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign is essential, along with knowledge of digital asset management systems. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to accept feedback make an intern stand out. These skills ensure that poster designs effectively capture a film's essence, appeal to target audiences, and align with marketing strategies.

What are some typical projects and collaborative experiences an Intern Movie Poster Designer can expect during their internship?

As an Intern Movie Poster Designer, you can expect to work on real movie poster concepts, assisting senior designers with tasks like brainstorming sessions, creating mock-ups, and refining visual layouts. Interns often collaborate closely with marketing teams, copywriters, and sometimes even film directors to ensure the poster aligns with the film’s branding. You'll gain hands-on experience with design software, receive constructive feedback, and may have the opportunity to contribute creative ideas in team meetings. • Basic understanding of social media platforms and their respective best practices (LinkedIn & Instagram).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Basic graphic design skills and knowledge of photo and video editing tools for quick formatting (e.g., Photoshop, Illustrator, Canva)
  • Familiarity with social media scheduling and analytics tools (e.g., Hubspot, Google Analytics) is a plus.
  • Please be sure to send us a portfolio link to your previous work.

This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in graphic design with a dynamic and innovative team. If you are looking to build your skills and grow your career, we would love to hear from you!
