Western Door Federal is seeking a Power Platform Engineer to support a program with the United States Military Academy - West Point. The objective of this work is to provide comprehensive cloud solution services, hosted in MS Azure, as part of a larger team. This Engineer will be the technical lead for designing, developing, and implementing solutions using the Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, Dataverse) within an enterprise environment. The ideal candidate will have strengths with Dataverse and solid working experience with governance and Power Platform COE.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design & Develop Power Platform Solutions: Create custom business applications using Power Apps (Canvas and Model-Driven Apps) and Dataverse and develop automation workflows using Power Automate to address enterprise needs.
  • Integration with Microsoft Ecosystem: Integrate Power Platform solutions with other Microsoft and cloud services, including SharePoint Online, Azure PaaS such as Azure Functions, Azure SQL Database, and Power BI for reporting, ensuring seamless data flow across systems.
  • End-to-End Solution Delivery: Lead all phases of the solution lifecycle โ€“ from requirements gathering and design, to development, testing, and deployment of Power Platform solutions. Ensure solutions are robust, secure, and scalable.
  • Collaboration & Requirements Gathering: Work closely with stakeholders to understand business processes and translate requirements into technical specifications and effective Power Platform solutions. Provide guidance on platform capabilities and best practices.
  • Quality Assurance: Provide acceptance criteria and conduct thorough unit/developer testing for Power Apps and flows. Debug and resolve issues, ensuring high-quality, bug-free deliverables that meet end-user requirements.
  • Documentation & Training: Create and maintain technical documentation, including solution design documents, and collaborate on user guides and support manuals.
  • Technical Leadership & Innovation: Serve as the Power Platform Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the team. Stay up to date with the latest Power Platform features, best practices. Lead or mentor junior developers if applicable, and provide insights on improving development processes, governance, and use of the Power Platform Center of Excellence (CoE) toolkit.
  • Support & Maintenance: Provide ongoing support for deployed Power Platform solutions. Monitor performance, security, and usage, and implement enhancements or troubleshoot issues as needed to ensure continuity of operations for critical systems.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field. (Equivalent professional experience may be considered.)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience developing solutions with Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, and Dataverse).
  • Proven ability to build complex Canvas and Model-Driven apps, automate workflows, and integrate with external data sources.
  • Experience with Power Platform Center of Excellence (COE).
  • Hands on experience with Microsoft 365 and Azure ecosystem โ€“ including integrating Power Platform with SharePoint, using Azure Functions or other Azure PaaS services for custom business logic, and connecting to Azure SQL or other databases.
  • Strong understanding of relational database concepts and data modeling.
  • Experience and expertise with at least one programming or scripting language (e.g. C#, .NET, JavaScript/TypeScript, SQL) to extend Power Platform capabilities (such as writing plugins, custom connectors, or Azure Function code) is required.
  • Experience with data and document migration and integration with external data sources.
  • Experience with 3rd party tools or technologies including: PostMan, Fiddler, XRMToolBox, XRMToolKit and migration tools such as KingswaySoft and Azure Data Factory is a plus.
  • Experience with source control and DevOps (Azure DevOps or GitHub) for CI/CD pipelines in Power Platform projects is a plus.
  • DoD 8140/8570 IAT Level II certification such as CompTIA Security+ (Security Plus) certification (or higher) is required.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to work independently as an individual contributor while collaborating effectively in a cross-functional team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects concurrently in a dynamic environment.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and participation in Agile/DevOps processes.
  • Willingness to occasionally travel to client site, if needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced Power Platform Expertise: Microsoft Power Platform certifications (e.g., Power Platform Fundamentals PL-900, Power Platform Developer PL-400 or Solution Architect PL-600 certifications) is highly desirable, demonstrating formal expertise.
  • Experience with Power BI development for dashboards/reports and Power Pages/Power Portals Knowledge of Microsoft Teams and SharePoint Online integrations.
  • Experience developing custom web components or services using Azure PAAS services or the .NET stack to extend Power Platform capabilities. Familiarity with REST APIs and integrating third-party services/data.
