Job description

Meyer Utility Structures is seeking a Transportation Analyst for our corporate office in Memphis, TN. The Transportation Analyst will be an integral member of the Business Unit Supply Chain team, responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of transportation, including the coordination of inbound and outbound activities. This role will focus on transportation data analysis, logistics process support, freight system accuracy, and cross-functional collaboration to drive cost-effective transportation solutions, service improvement, regulatory compliance, and informed decision-making across the organization.

Meyer Utility Structures is an industry leader in the engineering design and fabrication of concrete and tubular steel structures for transmission, distribution, and substation applications. With over sixty years of innovative engineering and manufacturing expertise, Meyer has helped to author and validate many of today’s transmission industry standards and specifications.

What You Will Do:

  • Coordinate day-to-day transportation operations, including inbound and outbound activities, to support efficient movement of goods from origin to destination
  • Maintain logistics databases and monitor shipping processes to ensure compliance with regulatory and legal requirements, with particular focus on DOT requirements
  • Leverage transportation management systems (TMS) and related technologies to enhance route planning, shipment visibility, reporting, and overall transportation performance
  • Analyze transportation data to provide insights, recommendations, and management-friendly reporting that support data-driven decision-making
  • Support transportation strategies aligned with business goals, including cost reduction, service improvement, and risk mitigation
  • Evaluate alternate transportation solutions and recommend cost-effective transportation models
  • Coordinate inbound shipment logistics with factories, forwarders, and internal stakeholders to ensure timely and efficient delivery
  • Serve as subject matter support for logistics across product lines, including landed cost analysis and new business feasibility assessments
  • Maintain data accuracy within freight systems and support continuous improvement of transportation data quality
  • Coordinate day-to-day activities of third-party logistics (3PL) transportation service providers
  • Partner with the Transportation Manager to understand forecasts and support accurate customer invoicing
  • Work with the Transportation Team to improve network connectivity, reduce costs, and maintain or improve service levels
  • Prepare ad hoc management reporting related to delivery on-time (DOT) performance and transportation activities

 

What You Will Need:

  • 5+ years of experience in a supply chain, logistics, transportation, or engineering function required
  • Experience working with third-party logistics (3PL) providers preferred
  • Six Sigma or Lean experience preferred
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects with both strategic and tactical responsibility
  • Superior interpersonal skills with strong verbal, written communication, and presentation abilities
  • Strong analytical skills, high level of accuracy, and demonstrated ability to extract data from multiple sources and consolidate it into management-friendly information that supports solid decision-making
  • Intermediate computer skills, including Excel, Access, Word, JDE, and SAP
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
