Interiorscapers work in offices, hotels, malls, and other indoor environments to enhance air quality and aesthetics. Their role combines elements of horticulture, design, and customer service.

What does an interiorscape do?

A typical day for an Interiorscape professional involves visiting client sites, assessing and maintaining indoor plants by watering, pruning, fertilizing, and checking for pests or diseases. You may also be involved in installing new plant displays or updating existing arrangements based on client requests or seasonal changes. Collaboration with team members, facility managers, or designers is common to ensure spaces are visually appealing and plants remain healthy. The role can require physical activity and occasional travel between locations, offering variety and a dynamic work environment. Staying organized and proactive is key to managing multiple accounts and exceeding client expectations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the interiorscape position, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Interiorscape professional, you need a solid understanding of plant care, design principles, and basic horticulture, often supported by hands-on experience or certifications in landscape or interior plant care. Familiarity with irrigation systems, pest management tools, and computer-aided design (CAD) software for planning spaces is commonly required. Strong attention to detail, customer service orientation, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are essential soft skills. These competencies ensure the successful selection, installation, and maintenance of indoor plant environments that enhance client spaces and satisfaction.
