We are seeking an Interior Designer, under the Temporary Professional Staffing Services contract with the Department of Veterans Affairs. This project will provide professional staffing services to the Medical and Engineering Department's capabilities at the Long Beach Veterans Affairs Healthcare System (LBVAHCS). Positions will be assigned to specific sections within the department, including Capital Development, Projects & Construction, Business Management, and Maintenance & Operations, and report to the respective Section Supervisor in support of medical center tasks. The position is on-site, 40 hours per week, 8 hours per day, based at the LBVAHCS, located at 5901 E. 7th Street, Long Beach, CA 90822.

So, what will the Interior Designer at Terrestris do?
The Interior Designer will be a key personnel position for the Temporary Professional Staffing Services contract, working for the Engineering Service Planning's Interior Design Section. The Interior Designer will oversee and assist with major project activations, moves, space planning, and budgeting. The Interior Designer will prepare packages for furniture, finishes, and equipment purchases, and manage delivery and installation. The Supervisory Interior Designer will review all work. This position is contingent upon contract award.
What does a typical day look like for an Interior Designer?
You will:
  • Develop interior design solutions for healthcareand administrative spaces across major projects.
  • Prepare detailed AutoCAD drawings, plans,sketches, and visual design presentations.
  • Analyze architectural drawings and createFF&E layouts aligned with building codes.
  • Interpret and review plans for compliance withVA standards and specifications.
  • Produce procurement packages including scopes ofwork, specifications, budgets, and cost estimates.
  • Manage procurement processes, vendorcoordination, and delivery and installation schedules.
  • Maintain design documentation, resourcelibraries, and project records for construction projects.
  • Oversee installation activities, direct crews,and resolve punch list items.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders and manageactivation project schedules and communications.
  • Assess operations, recommend improvements, andsupport transition and move-in planning.

What qualifications do you look for?
You might be the professional we're looking for if you have:
  • Authorization to permanently work in the UnitedStates without sponsorship.
  • Bachelor's Degree OR 8-10 years of professional interior design experience.
  • Must be familiar with Patient Centered Careculture in healthcare.
  • Ability to review and interpret blueprints andspecifications.
  • Skilled in free form drawing and drawing toscale when on a job site measuring for a project.
  • Project Management Certification, EvidencedBased Design Accreditation and Certification and/or Leadership in Energy andEnvironmental Design.
  • Expertise with recommendations for theselection, specification, procurement, and placement of furnishings.
  • AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word,PowerPoint & Outlook) are required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both inwriting and verbally with a variety of contractors, management officials,vendors, Contract Officers and Long Beach staff.

We will be extra impressed if you have:
  • Certifications such as National Council forInterior Design Qualification.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Project & Revit. arebeneficial but not required.
