Job description

About Aspen Vacations
Aspen Vacations is a luxury vacation rental company based in Aspen, CO, one of the world's most iconic destinations, managing a curated portfolio of exceptional properties across Aspen and Snowmass Village. True five-star hospitality is in the details: anticipating needs, personalizing every interaction, and creating unforgettable experiences from pre-arrival through post-departure. We are a close, collaborative team driven by a genuine commitment to our guests, our homeowners, and the standard of experience we deliver.
We're seeking a Senior Interior Designer who can own projects end to end and is passionate about creating elevated, design-driven spaces that will be enjoyed by many.
Position Summary
As a Senior Interior Designer Project Manager at Aspen Vacations, you will lead the transformation of luxury vacation rental properties, managing interior design projects from concept through completion and collaborating closely with homeowners, contractors, trades, vendors, and internal team members throughout the process. Projects vary greatly in scope, from furnishing and decor refreshes to complete renovations, across a portfolio of elevated in-town condos and mountain residences with an active pipeline of upcoming projects.
This role is a unique opportunity to design and curate memorable spaces that will be enjoyed by many during special trips with family and friends.
Owners largely rely on Aspen Vacations to make design decisions that will be most appealing to future guests, with the goal of making each home rental-ready as quickly as possible. This means you won't spend weeks preparing endless client presentations, waiting on decisions, or managing long revision cycles. You'll have real ownership over the design direction, selections, and final presentation, incorporating the distinct style and character of the Aspen area.
You'll take homes from concept to vacation-ready in a matter of months, quickly building a meaningful body of completed work.
You'll also be responsible for directing the professional photo shoot, ensuring the finished design is captured in a way that best markets the home. Your spaces will host guests throughout the year, and you'll see how people respond to your work through real guest feedback and each home's rental performance.
Job Responsibilities
• Lead and manage interior design projects from concept through completion, ensuring adherence to project schedules, budgets, and company standards.
• Develop and oversee detailed project schedules, FF&E budgets, resources, and deliverables to ensure timely and efficient execution.
• Lead overall design direction, including space planning, custom millwork, furniture and fabric selections, lighting design, material selections, finishes, and decor.
• Develop project drawings that convey design intent, including floor plans, elevations, millwork details, and lighting and tile layouts, and coordinate with internal team members, contractors, trades, and consultants on all documents needed to execute the design.
• Source, specify, and procure all project elements, including furnishings, fixtures, finishes, plumbing, lighting, materials, and accessories, building on our established vendor and trade program.
• Coordinate deliveries, installation logistics, final styling, and professional photography, with hands-on support from our in-house maintenance and housekeeping teams, so each property is impeccably staged for listing photography and guests.
• Conduct regular on-site meetings with internal teams, contractors, trades, and vendors to communicate design intent, review progress, resolve issues, and ensure quality control.
• Build and maintain strong homeowner relationships where owners are involved, communicating design vision and providing project status updates.
• Maintain organized project documentation, including budgets, schedules, drawings, specifications, vendor communications, proposals, invoices, and change orders.
• Refresh and update furnishings, decor, and finishes across existing properties, proactively replacing worn or dated items so each home continues to look its best.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Interior Design or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a residential design firm, with a portfolio demonstrating high-end residential work.
• Exceptional styling talent, with a refined eye for aesthetics, proportion, color, texture, and detail, and a track record of creating beautifully styled spaces.
• NCIDQ certification preferred.
• Proven success managing multiple interior design projects simultaneously, from concept through completion.
• Extensive FF&E sourcing and procurement experience, with the resourcefulness to source quickly and effectively, navigate lead times, and identify quality alternatives without compromising the design vision or budget.
• Strong knowledge of design principles, with an understanding of basic construction methods and the ability to resolve construction-related design challenges.
• Impeccable organizational and record-keeping skills, with sharp attention to detail and the ability to perform under pressure and deadlines.
• Proficient in AutoCAD (or a comparable drafting program), Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, and other relevant design software.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a commitment to creating positive, professional experiences across all interactions, including guests, homeowners, team members, vendors, and contractors.
• A motivated self-starter with a strong sense of urgency, accountability, and follow-through.
• Passionate about creating incredible spaces that leave a lasting impression on guests and homeowners.
