Social Science, Interdisciplinary Program | FSU Panama City

FSU Panama City is located 100 miles west of Tallahassee on the beautiful North St. Andrews Bay and is only three miles from the beaches of the emerald coast. FSU PC currently houses 20 bachelor's programs, 9 master's programs, and 1 doctoral program, and boasts a small faculty-to-student ratio, which gives students a more personalized academic experience. Responsibilities
  • Teach both dual-enrollment and other undergraduate courses for the FSU Liberal Studies curriculum & for the Interdisciplinary Social Sciences major with a special emphasis on the following areas: American History, World History, and additional Social Science based on expertise.
  • Work with colleagues on campus and in the community to recruit students, promote FSU Panama City Interdisciplinary Social Science Program, and engage with local initiatives to benefit student experiences and program access
    Collaborate with colleagues at the FSU Tallahassee ISS (Interdisciplinary Social Science) program for course coordination and committee service.
  • Be an engaged faculty member for the FSU Panama City Campus.
  • Opportunities are available to engage in research and oversee student projects, though not specifically required for this teaching position.

Qualifications
PhD in History or related field, from an accredited institution. Candidates who are ABD (all but dissertation) will be considered, and candidates who have a Master's degree in History with a related doctoral degree will also be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
  • We especially seek candidates who have previous university teaching experience
  • Are qualified to teach a variety of courses in the ISS curriculum
  • Have direct experience facilitating support for students in career goals
  • Successful candidates are expected to have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and be dedicated to students.

The FSU PC Interdisciplinary Program in Social Science (ISS) is designed to provide a broad background for students to understand public affairs and study complex issues and problems facing the social world with an interdisciplinary orientation. Students in this program are encouraged to apply a spectrum of perspectives to specific public policies and social issues. This academic program is flexible so that students may pursue their own individual specialized and pre-professional interests.
