Job description

As MISO's Senior Manager - Generation Interconnection, you will lead a team at the center of one of the energy industry's most important challenges: reliably connecting new resources to the grid while balancing speed, accuracy, stakeholder expectations, and long-term system reliability.
This is more than a technical leadership role. It is an opportunity to guide strategy, develop talent, influence process improvements, and help drive how the future grid evolves across the MISO footprint.
In this role, you will:
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team responsible for Generation Queue Definitive Planning Phases (DPP) studies and expedited resource addition studies
  • Drive accountability for accurate, defensible study results and on-time milestone execution in alignment with the MISO Tariff and BPM requirements
  • Oversee the development, validation, and maintenance of power flow, short circuit, stability, and deliverability models that support critical planning decisions
  • Partner with Transmission Owners, Interconnection Customers, and internal stakeholders to resolve complex technical and operational challenges
  • Guide cross-functional collaboration between engineering, modeling, automation, and data teams to improve study execution and consistency
  • Champion process improvements, automation enhancements, and operational efficiencies that improve throughput and customer experience
  • Balance technical leadership with people leadership-coaching employees, managing priorities, navigating difficult conversations, and helping your team grow and succeed

The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise in transmission planning or generation interconnection studies, but also understands what it means to lead. This role requires sound judgment, thoughtful communication, organizational leadership, and the ability to make difficult decisions while supporting and developing a team in a fast-paced environment.
At MISO, you will work alongside industry experts helping solve some of the most important reliability and energy transition challenges facing the grid today-all while making an impact on more than 47 million people across our footprint.
If you are looking for a leadership opportunity where technical complexity, strategy, collaboration, and people leadership all come together, we would love to connect.
The appropriate level will be determined based on experience and knowledge.
The base salary compensation range being offered for this role is $173,000-$198,000 USD annually. Base salary range for this position is included in accordance with requirements of various state/local pay transparency legislation. Please note that salaries may vary for different individuals in the same role based on several factors, including but not limited to location of the role, individual competencies, education/professional certifications, and qualifications/experience.
Position is also eligible for an annual bonus if individual performance and company objectives are met. At MISO we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including 401k, vacation, sick and safe time, available on your first day of employment.
Transformative innovation is happening in the electric industry, from digitalizing homes and distributed resources to renewable energy and an ever-changing grid. MISO manages the electricity superhighway in the Central U.S. and using groundbreaking research and sophisticated technology, our highly skilled employees ensure power flows reliably to 45 million Americans.
