RN Manager - Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
Location: Denville, NJ
Pay: $93,600.00 - $126,360.00
Job Type: Full-Time, Exempt
The ICU Manager is a Registered Nurse responsible for 24-hour administrative oversight of all critical care nursing services. This role provides leadership for patient care delivery, staff supervision, and departmental operations while ensuring compliance with hospital policies, regulatory requirements, and quality standards.
The ICU Manager is a visible, hands-on leader who rounds daily, supporting staff, monitoring care delivery, and maintaining close collaboration with physicians and nursing leadership. This position works in consultation with the CNO/DON to address clinical issues, interpret policies, and ensure patient needs are consistently met.
This position offers significant opportunity for professional growth through exposure to complex clinical operations, performance improvement initiatives, and senior leadership collaboration.
Responsibilities
  • Provide 24-hour administrative leadership for ICU operations and critical care nursing services.
  • Supervise, evaluate, and support ICU staff, ensuring appropriate utilization of personnel and resources.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care delivery to meet clinical standards and patient needs.
  • Conduct daily rounding to maintain visibility, support staff, and monitor patient care and unit operations.
  • Develop and implement departmental plans, including performance improvement initiatives and regulatory compliance activities.
  • Serve as a primary point of consultation for staff, physicians, and nursing leadership regarding nursing practice and policy interpretation.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, physicians, and administration through clear verbal and written communication.
  • Maintain accountability to the CNO/DON for unit performance, quality outcomes, and operational effectiveness.

Qualifications
Education and Work Experience
1. Must have a current and valid state license as a Registered Nurse.
2. BLS (AHA) upon hire and maintain current.
3. A minimum of two years supervisory/management experience necessary.
4. Minimum of three years of continuous clinical experience in a clinical/acute care setting.
5. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) (AHA) upon hire and maintain current.
6. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), required for all hires after 1/11/2021.

A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes estimated wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $93,600.00 to $126,360.00 on an annualized basis. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
