Job description

WSP is currently initiating a search for an Intelligent Transportation Systems Maintenance Inspector for our client's Transportation Management Center in the Hauppauge, NY office.

This Opportunity
The Intelligent Transportation Systems Maintenance Inspector shall have a familiarity with conducting inspections of ITS Field equipment to ensure the technical specifications are maintained and performed.  This position would work 7:00am-3:30pm.
 

Your Impact 

Job Description:

  • Inspection, supervision and working with NYSDOT INFORM Contractors
  • Enforcing contract technical specifications of equipment, materials and labor during field installations, repairs and modifications by Field Maintenance Contractors
  • Read plans, implement and enforce Work Zone Traffic Control (WZTC)
  • Prepare inspection reports including job descriptions, equipment used, MPT furnished, hours of work, travel time, etc.
  • Tows, deploys and programs portable variable message signs (PVMS, CCTV, Radar trailers) using instructions manual & field training.
  • Maintain INFORM's Equipment Inventory at various storage facilities, organize storage facilities, receive equipment from various sources and provide updates on equipment needs
  • Inspect field equipment and devices routinely to enforce maintenance contractor requirements to maintain field equipment.
  • Coordinate yearly INFORM PVMS preventive maintenance inspections and repairs with the NYSDOT equipment maintenance shop in Central Islip. 
  • Must be available for "after normal working hours", (Including weekends) for project emergencies such as equipment hits and PVMS deployments, Special events, both seasonal and holiday related, Sport tournaments, and severe weather events. 
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
     

Who You Are

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent;
  • 3+ years of experience inspecting field equipment, supervision of electrical maintenance contractors, and preparation of inspection reports
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience
  • Valid Driver's License
     

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to work with others in a team environment 
  • Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and written.
  • Public, internal and external relations (works well with internal, external and partner groups and individuals)
  • Able to respond to problem situations 24/7/365

Expected Salary: $47,700 - 85,500
