What is an integration manager?

Integration Managers are professionals responsible for overseeing and coordinating the process of combining systems, teams, or operations during business mergers, acquisitions, or the adoption of new technologies. They ensure that different business units, IT systems, or organizational processes work seamlessly together, minimizing disruption and maximizing efficiency. Integration Managers collaborate with various departments, manage timelines, and address challenges that arise during the integration process. Their goal is to align resources, standardize procedures, and achieve the strategic objectives of the integration.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an integration manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Integration Manager, you need a strong background in project management, systems integration, and a relevant degree in IT, engineering, or business. Familiarity with integration platforms (such as MuleSoft or Dell Boomi), middleware, and certifications like PMP or ITIL are commonly required. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills help you coordinate teams and drive successful integrations. These capabilities are essential for ensuring seamless technology adoption, minimizing disruptions, and achieving strategic business goals.

What are some common challenges integration managers face when coordinating cross-functional teams during system integrations?

Integration Managers often encounter challenges such as aligning priorities across departments, managing differing communication styles, and ensuring all stakeholders are informed and engaged throughout the integration process. • Install, configure, integrate, administer, maintain, and troubleshoot SAS and third-party enterprise software based on technical documentation and customer requirements.

  • Collaborate directly with customers, analysts, developers, implementation teams, support organizations, R&D, and third-party vendors to deliver effective technical solutions.

  • Review sales opportunities before contract finalization to ensure proposed technologies - including Kubernetes, cloud storage, networking, and identity and access management - meet customer requirements and SAS hosting standards.

  • Evaluate and plan upgrades and migrations for hosted SAS environments, ensuring software compatibility, operational readiness, and minimal customer disruption.

  • Develop infrastructure, software, and service cost estimates to support accurate planning, budgeting, and project profitability tracking.

  • Maintain technical and operational documentation while improving tools, processes, services, and delivery capabilities.

  • Manage operational and ad-hoc requests through Jira and ServiceNow, including software order reviews, server decommissioning, CMDB updates, and documentation changes.

  • Serve as a customer advocate by communicating clearly with global internal and external stakeholders and helping customers maximize the value of their SAS investment.

  • Contribute to team success by sharing knowledge, mentoring colleagues, removing obstacles, and identifying innovative ways to improve the customer and employee experience.

  • Develop technical expertise through hands-on learning, collaboration with R&D, cross-team assignments, and individualized professional development plans.

  • Work flexible hours, including occasional weekends, when required to support global customers and critical delivery activities.
  • Embrace curiosity, passion, authenticity and accountability. These are our values and influence everything we do.
