What is an integration manager?

Integration Managers are professionals responsible for overseeing and coordinating the process of combining systems, teams, or operations during business mergers, acquisitions, or the adoption of new technologies. They ensure that different business units, IT systems, or organizational processes work seamlessly together, minimizing disruption and maximizing efficiency. Integration Managers collaborate with various departments, manage timelines, and address challenges that arise during the integration process. Their goal is to align resources, standardize procedures, and achieve the strategic objectives of the integration.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an integration manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Integration Manager, you need a strong background in project management, systems integration, and a relevant degree in IT, engineering, or business. Familiarity with integration platforms (such as MuleSoft or Dell Boomi), middleware, and certifications like PMP or ITIL are commonly required. These capabilities are essential for ensuring seamless technology adoption, minimizing disruptions, and achieving strategic business goals.

You will partner closely with Legal, Compliance, EHS, Tech, and Data teams to deliver scalable solutions that reduce risk, improve efficiency, and enable proactive, data-driven decision-making across the enterprise.
Key Responsibilities
Legal, Compliance & EHS Technology Leadership
  • Define and drive the end-to-end technology strategy for Legal, Compliance, and EHS, including platforms supporting CLM, Legal Service Delivery, Third-Party Risk Management, Materials Compliance, and EHS management.
  • Own the product vision, roadmap, and prioritization for Legal, Compliance, and EHS technology initiatives, ensuring alignment with enterprise risk, regulatory, and growth objectives.
  • Serve as the primary technology partner to Legal, Compliance, and EHS leadership, translating business needs into scalable, fit-for-purpose solutions.

Platform Strategy, Integration & Data Enablement

  • Improve transparency, cycle times, and scalability of legal services while enabling legal teams to focus on higher-value advisory work.
  • Define success metrics and KPIs to measure value realization across Legal, Compliance, and EHS initiatives.

AI-Enabled Solution Design & Delivery
  • Identify and prioritize high-value AI use cases across Legal, Compliance, and EHS with clear value, risk, and adoption criteria.
  • Partner with Tech, Data, Security, Privacy, and Legal stakeholders to ensure AI solutions are designed with appropriate governance (data classification, access controls, retention, auditability, and human-in-the-loop review) and align to enterprise AI standards.
  • Embed AI capabilities into end-to-end workflows and platforms (CLM, Legal Service Delivery, TPRM, Materials Compliance, EHS) through product design, integration patterns, and change management.

Cross-Functional Leadership & Stakeholder Management
  • Build strong partnerships across Legal, Compliance, EHS, Tech, Data, Finance, and external vendors to deliver integrated, enterprise-wide solutions.
  • Facilitate prioritization, planning, and governance forums to align stakeholders, manage dependencies, and drive accountability.
  • Act as a thought leader and trusted advisor, influencing decisions across a highly matrixed organization.

Change Management & Adoption
  • Lead change management, communication, and adoption strategies for new platforms and processes.
  • Ensure training, documentation, and operational readiness to support successful rollouts and sustained value.
  • Champion continuous improvement, innovation, and standardization across the Legal, Compliance, and EHS technology landscape.

Skills and Minimum Experience Required
