Position Overview

This is an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer looking to accelerate their career within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary engineering environment. As a Mechanical Engineer II, you will play a key role in the design and delivery of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems for a diverse portfolio of commercial, healthcare, educational, institutional, and retail projects. You'll work directly with project teams while developing the technical expertise and leadership skills needed for long-term advancement.

Working within integrated studios alongside civil, structural, electrical, and plumbing professionals, you'll gain valuable experience across all phases of project delivery while contributing to innovative and sustainable building solutions.

Core Responsibilities

  • Design HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems for commercial and institutional building projects

  • Perform heating and cooling load calculations, equipment sizing, ductwork layouts, piping design, and energy analysis

  • Develop construction drawings, specifications, and permitting documents utilizing Revit MEP and AutoCAD

  • Coordinate closely with architects, structural engineers, electrical engineers, contractors, and project stakeholders

  • Conduct QA/QC reviews to ensure compliance with building codes, ASHRAE standards, NFPA standards, and company design criteria

  • Participate in site surveys, field investigations, construction administration activities, and project punch lists

  • Manage project tasks, schedules, budgets, and technical deliverables

  • Support client communication and project coordination throughout the design and construction process

  • Mentor junior engineers and designers while assisting with technical development efforts

  • Contribute to business development initiatives, proposals, and project presentations as needed

  • Support sustainable and energy-efficient building system design solutions

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering required

  • Experience: 3–5 years of experience in mechanical building systems design

  • Technical Expertise: Experience designing HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems

  • Software: Proficiency in Revit MEP and AutoCAD

  • Codes & Standards: Strong understanding of building codes, ASHRAE standards, NFPA standards, and construction processes

  • Communication: Excellent verbal, written, and coordination skills

  • Project Experience: Ability to manage multiple assignments and collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or active pursuit of licensure

  • Experience with healthcare, educational, or institutional projects

  • Knowledge of sustainable design principles and energy-efficient building systems

  • Construction administration and field observation experience
