Purpose Statement

Under the direction of the Principal, the Signature Program Coach (IB/STEM) provides strategic leadership, coordination, and continuous improvement of Wesley International Academy’s International Baccalaureate (IB) framework and STEM integration. This role ensures the fidelity, alignment, and innovation of the school’s signature programs, including the Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP), and STEM initiatives.

The Signature Program Coach drives instructional excellence by supporting collaborative planning, strengthening inquiry-based teaching, integrating STEM across content areas, and ensuring compliance with IB standards and practices. This position plays a critical role in advancing student outcomes, teacher effectiveness, and the school’s identity as a high-performing IB and STEM-focused learning community.

Essential Functions

The following duties are representative of this position. Additional responsibilities may be assigned.

Program Leadership & Implementation
  • Lead and oversee the implementation, alignment, and continuous improvement of IB (PYP/MYP) and STEM programming across all grade levels.

  • Ensure integration of STEM principles within the IB framework to promote inquiry, problem-solving, and real-world application.

  • Maintain compliance with IB standards, practices, and evaluation requirements.

  • Serve as the primary liaison between the school and the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO).

Instructional Coaching & Professional Learning
  • Provide ongoing instructional coaching to teachers on IB pedagogy, inquiry-based learning, and STEM integration.

  • Design and facilitate high-quality professional development aligned to IB philosophy and STEM best practices.

  • Support Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to strengthen curriculum design, assessment practices, and interdisciplinary planning.

Curriculum & Assessment Development
  • Guide curriculum planning to ensure alignment with IB frameworks, state standards, and STEM competencies.

  • Support the development of rigorous, standards-based units of inquiry and interdisciplinary STEM experiences.

  • Use multiple data sources to monitor student progress, inform instruction, and support differentiated learning strategies.

Collaboration & Culture Building
  • Collaborate with administrators, instructional staff, and support teams to ensure program coherence and continuity.

  • Promote the IB Learner Profile and cultivate a culture of inquiry, innovation, and global-mindedness.

  • Engage families and community partners in understanding and supporting IB/STEM initiatives.

Program Management & Operations
  • Coordinate IB authorization, evaluation, and reauthorization processes.

  • Organize and manage resources to support both IB and STEM programming.

  • Support scheduling and structures that maximize collaborative planning and interdisciplinary instruction.

Communication & Advocacy
  • Communicate program goals, expectations, and outcomes clearly to all stakeholders.

  • Advocate for instructional practices that enhance student achievement and program integrity.

Other Duties
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Principal.

Minimum QualificationsEducation and Experience
  • Master’s degree or higher in Education or a related field required.

  • Minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience.

  • Demonstrated experience with IB programs (PYP and/or MYP) required.

  • Experience integrating STEM into core instruction is strongly preferred.

  • Prior instructional coaching or leadership experience preferred.

Certifications
  • Valid Georgia Professional Standards Commission certification (or equivalent) required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Deep knowledge of IB philosophy, standards, and practices.

  • Strong understanding of STEM integration and interdisciplinary instruction.

  • Expertise in curriculum development, instructional best practices, and assessment design.

  • Ability to analyze and use data to drive instructional improvement.
