Hyperion International Technologies is seeking a junior to mid-level Controls and Automation Engineer who will work with clients and vendors to design the systems and controls that meet the customer’s needs. The Engineer will have a good understanding of the various technologies available and the ability to recommend the right solution based on the project needs. The ideal candidate will be collaborative, innovative, persistent and focused on customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the design of industrial control systems.
  • Develop and modify PLC and HMI programs under the guidance of senior control engineers
  • Read electrical schematics, process & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and control system documentation
  • Perform electrical I/O verification of control panels prior to shipment and during system commissioning
  • Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) of PLC/HMI applications, control panels, and integrated industrial equipment
  • Verify proper operation of control systems through testing, troubleshooting, and documentation of results
  • Troubleshoot electrical, instrumentation, PLC, and HMI issues during startup and service
  • Interact with engineers, operators, and customers to support installed control systems
  • Assist with system upgrades, modifications, and customer support
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
  • Working knowledge of programming fundamentals, data types, logical operations, and basic debugging techniques. PLC programming experience is NOT required, but is a plus
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics
  • Ability to read process & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) is a plus
  • Proficient with MS Office products and other standard software packages.
  • Proficient with CAD and other design software platforms.

Preferred

  • Exposure to PLC programming through coursework, internships, or personal projects
  • Internship experience in manufacturing, automation, or process industries
  • Knowledge of Allen Bradley PLCs, Studio5000, RsLogix5000, or RS500 PLC programming software is a plus
  • Knowledge of VTScada, Ignition, or FactoryTalk HMI software is a plus
  • Experience with water and wastewater treatment is a plus
