What is integrated healthcare?

Integrated healthcare is a coordinated approach to medical care that combines physical, mental, and social health services to provide comprehensive treatment for patients. This model promotes collaboration among various healthcare providers, such as doctors, nurses, mental health professionals, and social workers, to address all aspects of a patient's well-being. Integrated healthcare aims to improve patient outcomes, enhance the quality of care, and reduce costs by ensuring that care is seamless and tailored to individual needs.

In integrated healthcare settings, professionals such as physicians, nurses, behavioral health specialists, and social workers work closely together in multidisciplinary teams. Collaboration often involves regular team meetings, shared electronic health records, and coordinated care plans to ensure that all aspects of a patient's physical and mental health are addressed.
