Brentwood Hospital is looking for a dynamic Intake Counselor to join our team of professionals who are dedicated to providing help and hope to individuals and families for the achievement of improving their mental health as a local pain management clinic. The Intake Counselor assesses the needs of potential patients and facilitates the admission process; maintains communication with referral sources, families, patients and unit staff. Brentwood has served Louisiana, East Texas and South Arkansas for more than 45 years. We provide quality services to children, adolescents, adults, and seniors. Essential Job Functions:

  • Responds to telephone and face-to-face inquiries from persons seeking mental health care or information about mental health-related services
  • Conducts clinical assessments; utilizes appropriate clinical forms during assessment; develops sound knowledge of applicable criteria; provides a comfortable caring approach to clients
  • Documentation reviews show that forms, notes, and other applicable written information has been completed promptly and accurately

Qualifications:

  • Education: Master's degree in human service field (e.g. social work, counseling, psychology, etc.), or RN - preferably BSN.
  • Licensure/Certification: Licensed Louisiana RN, LCSW, LMSW, LPC, PLPC preferred.
  • Experience: 1-2 years of experience preferred in psychiatric health care. Working knowledge of DSM-V diagnostic criteria, mental status exam, and addiction and recovery field.
