POSITION SUMMARY:
The Ice Cream Intake/HTST Mix Operator is responsible for receiving raw dairy ingredients, operating the High-Temperature Short-Time (HTST) pasteurization system, and preparing ice cream mixes according to strict quality and safety standards. This role ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and supports efficient production flow.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ingredient Intake & Handling

  • Receive and verify incoming dairy and liquid ingredients for accuracy and quality.
  • Maintain proper storage and handling of raw materials to prevent contamination.
HTST Operation & Mix Preparation
  • Operate HTST pasteurization equipment to process ice cream mixes safely and efficiently.
  • Monitor temperature, pressure, and flow rates to ensure compliance with pasteurization standards.
  • Prepare and blend mixes according to formulation sheets and production schedules.
Quality & Compliance
  • Perform routine checks and record data for pasteurization and mix integrity.
  • Follow HACCP, SQF, and FDA guidelines for food safety and sanitation.
  • Document all production activities and report deviations promptly.
Maintenance & Safety
  • Conduct basic troubleshooting and coordinate with maintenance for repairs.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all safety protocols.
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in food processing preferred.
Experience:
  • 1-2 years in dairy or food manufacturing.
  • Experience with HTST systems a plus.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to read and follow detailed formulations and SOPs.
  • Mechanical aptitude for operating and adjusting equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
Physical Requirements:
  • Subject to up to at least 92db's
  • Lifting: up to 20 lbs. occasionally
  • Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, on a regular basis
  • Reaching: Extending hands and arms in any direction
  • Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist occasionally
  • Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities that must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly
